Dunno, but if both game are anywhere near as good as they looks from the previews, I figure it'll be worth looking out for his name on projects. He seems to pick them really well!

I don't like what DLC has become. All this stuff should just be in the game. Then, maybe a proper expansion pack developed in the future.

The other thing is, if you buy any DAO Edition from digital retailers (instead of a store retailer), you can get an extra in-game item that has some sort of unique quality -- the Formari Memory Band. Just look at D2D and Impulse.
We can go one step further -- if you order any DAO Edition from D2D, you get the Formari Memory Band (mentioned above) AND you get another extra in-game item -- The Dalish Ring, which has some sort of unique quality.
What a crap-tastic way to do business, if you ask me...

Agreed, D. A lot of people are going to resent this, and with good reason. It shuts out many and perhaps most casual gamers and irritates those of us who prefer to buy disks, still. For a couple of items, which is ridiculous.
I see the idea behind it - they want to encourage digital distribution models - but this is not the way to go, IMO.
They want to sell more digitally, they should drop the price on the digital version.

Agreed, D. A lot of people are going to resent this, and with good reason. It shuts out many and perhaps most casual gamers and irritates those of us who prefer to buy disks, still. For a couple of items, which is ridiculous. You know, Kane -- I was originally planning to buy DAO - Retail Collector's Ed (retails for $65) when this game first dropped. I don't normally plan to do such things. I don't normally spend that kind of money upon a game for release -- and if I don't, it usually ain't for a a Retail Collector's Edition. I did it once w/ Fallout 3: Collector's Edition Retail Box ($70). Now that I know the Retail Box CE won't come w/ ALL the DLC, I'm not even sure if I'll buy the Retail CE now. If The Retail CE did come w/ Warden's Keep, I'd probably bite the damn bullet. I have always felt that Collector's Ed (Retail) should ALWAYS come w/ ALL the in-game content -- period. That's what the hell you're spending that kind of money for. I think given the explosion of sales on Steam (especially them), Impulse, D2D, Gamersgate, and other digital avenues, this is where we're headed. Especially as PC game sales at retail are are going further and further down every year, for the most part. I don't particularly like that thought too much -- b/c well, I don't wanna say go buy a brand new games that's a whooping 15-30 GB, having to wait for it to DL when I could've probably been playing a game and possibly finishing one in that time period. I like having a game on disc that is of a huge size, so I don't have to wind up having to take the long-winded time to let it DL and so I don't have to wind up burning it onto a few separate DVD's. I didn't like letting Drakensang DL while I slept and then when I woke up, I cut Drakensang to two DVD's, for crying loud -- and that was only 8 GB. Imagine how I'd feel about games over that amount of GB size -- games like say GTA4, Age of Conan (32 GB, for Version 1.0 -- I can imagine what that is, after it's been patched!), Sacred 2: Fallen Angel are well over 15 GB. I don't think they need to. In the Digital Deluxe Version (retails for $65), they're giving you MORE stuff (namely throwing in The Warden's Keep DLC and at least one extra goofy little trinket) than The Retail Collector's Ed for the SAME exact price ($65 retail most places; Amazon has The Retail CE on sale for $60, though).

More stuff, sure, but enough more stuff to counter all the disadvantages? Like you say, download speeds are just not good enough for games that are going to take up several gigs. Then there's the annoyance of disking them, etc. Sure, disks are cheap enough, but they increase the effective price you are paying for the game, because you're also paying for the media you store it on and you're paying in time which you could more profitably use to do other things.
For all the added annoyance, frustration and expense you get... what, a couple of items? And a scenario you just know is gonna be disked sooner or later anyway. It's a lousy deal, especially if the game is massive and I'd bet it is.
Definitely no way I'm bothering with the Retail Collector's Ed, either. Just not worth it.

Then there's the annoyance of disking them, etc. Exactly -- I don't like the disadvantages here w/ going digital. too many majors there -- namely the DL time and going to have to disc them all onto a bunch of discs. I just copy it uncompressed to DVD -- unless the game comes w/ a EXE installer file AND a handful of BIN files (like Witcher's Enhanced Edition Patch did and GOG does for their bigger games). Easier to copy over to disc that way, if you ask me. I don't wanna do the ZIP file way that D2D uses -- because they force an extra step on you, with the way they do things. I prefer the methods used by Steam (straight downloads the files and everything PERIOD - best method), Impulse (downloads an installer file, installs it, then destroy installer file itself), and of course GOG (download EXE installer + possibly BIN files needed if it's agame bigger than 2 GB). If you cut a game w/ D2D's way to do things -- this all begins as a ZIP file. Then, you got to uncompress the ZIP file to the HD. Then, you got to run the EXE installer file -- and yes, you've got to have already a good deal of HD space open, just to do all this!! No thanks. I'll just cut my stuff to disc w/ the EXE and the installer files, to cut off one unnecessary step of the ZIP un-compression step (I don't think un-compress is a word, but what-ever -- you get my drift!). Plus, Steam and Impulse have in-service tools to let you compress your game into an "archive." Then, you can cut that to disc -- and if you need to reinstall stuff, you just run that archive file installer file -- and it does its thing. Very easy stuff. Very simple. Bingo -- you know later on, there will likely be a DAO - Gold Edition with likely all kinds of extra DLC on it.

Yep. Games companies are starting to figure that the only thing better than getting people to buy their games once is getting them to buy their games twice. If they pack in enough extras and the game is good enough, it works, too...

Good. Best system for parties. You don't have to do much with the easy encounters, but you get time to order all your characters around with the majors. This is how I like it
