news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060314/ap_en_tv/people_isaac_hayes_12I totally agree with Matt Stone on this one--Hayes didn't have any problem cashing checks when the show made fun of Christianity/Judaism, but as soon as it made fun of Scientology, Hayes claimed it was offensive. I wonder what the creators will do. Chef isn't an essential character, but he is a big part of the show. I'm sure there are many Isaac Hayes impersonators out there, though I'm not sure about the legality of using them.

i don't think there will be any problems with his replacement though, legally speaking. after all he is paid to voice-act Chef. there have been many voice actors for animated cartoons of Superman & so far replacements present no legal problem.
as for how good his replacement(s) will be, that is another story altogether. man, i kinda miss the Chef once he's gone. & i am not sure if his replacement can pull it off. after all, Chef is quite a unique character.

I think the creators of South Park will kill off Chef in such a creative way that I can't even think of it. But they'll find a way to do it as I think no-one can compare to Hayes as Chef.

Ah, this is a standard reaction to South Park. Whenever there is a subject one disagrees or dislikes and South Park makes fun of it, some people applaud Parker and Stone, but when the subject is one they believe in, they cry how offensive it is. I read a few christians' laughing at and complimenting the show about the mormons, but when the subject is about The Passion of the Christ, it's suddenly offensive.
This is South Park. It is offensive. That's the whole point of it! Someone who has worked for the show for so many years should have known better.

Undercover? I tought they were pretty blunt.
Man, it was awesome. It's really easy to make fun of Scientology, but Parker and Stone tore them to pieces. Yep, it was brilliant.
BTW, there have been rumours that Hayes didn't quit himself, but that someone else made the statement. Creepy.

I didn't see it... and I wanted too.
I'm not crazy about South Park, but it's enjoyable at times.

I don't understand why people get so uptight about everything, especially in a case like this where he already made fun of others.
I still laugh if someone has a good slam about my religion, or a good white joke, or whatever.
Maybe I'm just more easy going than others....

Well, this is about scientology. Oppresive brainwashing and all that. There are rumours that it wasn't even Hayes who quitted, but that he was made to.
And, well, it wasn't a good slam or a white joke. They literally mocked Scientology merciless. But this is South Park. It's what they do.

Yea I saw the episode where they slammed Scientology. I thought it was pretty funny. But even if I believe in that I wouldn't of been offended. Plenty of shows have made fun of my religion, and if it's a good joke, I laugh my ass off.
Everyone needs to lighten up and see the humor in everything!

My guess is that you don't know much about Scientology. They are scary, dude.
Plus, I'd say that there was a different tone in the Scientology one. Ever see the one about the Mormons? They retold Joseph Smith's 'contacts' with angels and all that, even had a very catchy tune with 'Joseph Smith was dumb, dumb, dumb' but at the end they practically said that it didn't matter if Mormonism was dumb, as long as the religion made the believers lives better. Something positive.
No such thing on the Scientology episode.

I did see the mormon episode, It could be possitive because at least yeah there's something ok about mormons. it's kind of like "I work with what you give me". they seem to be able to find good in alot of ridiculious stuff..and satire is the best vehicle for mocking anything, that to me is what's great about cartoons. If someone says "I don't like cartoons", I'm like "what's wrong with you man".
