So my wife finally convinced me to watch this show last week, and she was right--it really is good! Any one else watch this show? Basically, I've been looking for a Buffy/Angel replacement series since we finished watching the show on DVD last year. No surprise that it's taken several shows to keep my interest: Rescue Me, Smallville, Veronica Mars, and now House. So tell me, those of you who watch this little gem--is it sequential, like Buffy? Is it episodic, with an overarching theme/themes? Also funny that Michelle "Dawn" Trachtenberg is on the show tomorrow night.

I regret I haven't yet had a chance to see it, Rich. I've heard good things about it, though. I am glad that Hugh Laurie is finally getting the credit due him. I've liked his work ever since Black Adder. That having been said, if anything can tempt me to watch a show, it would be Michelle Trachtenberg.

...I don't get it. Seriously, give this ep a shot. The show's got some great "Scooby" qualities.

you're just starting so Im not surprised u still like it. actually its just me that it seems to be grating on....
Hugh Laurie is great. hes fantastic. And the show is very well written and acted etc etc. Its not a problem with any of that thats losing me.
Its House himself. Hes just an ASS. At first there was sort of a point to it, and a reason for it and it all made sense. But now....he seems like an ass just because thats what he is, rather than forhe reasons he had at first.
But as ai say, thats just me.

In fact, it makes the show pretty fun to watch. There are people who aspire to that kind of assery, and then there are grand marshalls...House is a GM.

Not a bad episode, all in all. I have to agree... Hugh Laurie is outstanding. He's done some great roles before, but I've never seen him do anything like this. House is such an irritating and arrogant jerk for all his brilliance, and Laurie plays it to perfection. Michelle Trachtenberg did a really nice job here too. The actual role itself doesn't seem like much, but she pulls it off well. That she's easy on the eyes is, of course, a bonus. I'm new to the show, so there's a lot I don't quite follow. But it seems interesting so far.

...and I promptly missed this episode. Dammit. I was at a going away party for work, and forgot to set the timer.
Grr...first of all, now I've got to wait a whole damned week to watch the show, and I've missed a Buffy connection! Oh, the humanity.

House rules. I've been a big fan of it since the start (and the fact that Stephen Colbert watches it)
He really flexes my sarcasm muscle.
one of my favorite quotes of the show
What would you prefer - a doctor who holds your hand while you die or one who ignores you while you get better? I suppose it would particularly suck to have a doctor who ignores you while you die.
