Don't worry, Shan. Steve & myself won't let anyone miss out - unless they want to, of course

I think Elliot snuck it off or messed it up and just doesn't want to admit it, Jags. ;D OK, Elliot, take a poll and see who else besides you can see it. ;D Shan

And I wonder if Steve falls into the category with us or with Elliot? Normally, I will see the "Today's Birthday" section. I think I missed the last couple, though, so I may be in your camp. Odd. That said, I do have ways of finding these things out if I really want to know.

Just letting you guys know I'm NOT dead. I'm not busy either. I'm just having to forum-hop way too much these days.
It really depends on my memory to remember to come around but at the moment there really isn't much for me to talk about here on a constant basis ( 1. I don't have much interest in discussing politics, philosophy, American comics, literature, or fanfics, 2. while all the people here are cool, they aren't around all the time for the few threads I do want to participate in, and 3. the art forum is largely inactive. )
I guess you'll have to forgive me for not showing up as much, but I'll try at least to come back on a more routine basis from here on.

Cool Elliot. I'll check around Today I just came back from Knoxville on another (yes) portfolio counseling session. I'm going to be doing more comic pages in the months to come - but this time I'll be doing children's book pictures for my mother. All year long I've been torn between sequential art at SCAD, photography at RIT, or art history at various other colleges, both in-state and out of state. Well - I'm still applying to ALL colleges, but it looks like my SCAD portfolio is the one I need to work the most on. And after that graduate portfolio session - which was for SCAD - I'm reinvigorated about trying to go to SCAD all over again. But concerning my Holy War pages, they said that while my landscapes in my Holy War pages were excellent, I had to work on figure drawing. So yeah, Illyana I guess wasn't that great in these pages. But I DO feel like I've drastically improved my ability with drawing the 3-D female figure (if my Elfquest art is anything to judge by) so I'm just going to re-do Illyana on these pages, and maybe digitally paste the images. I'll show the results here when I get it done. And then for the rest I'll be pretty much working with my mother. I don't have the time to do any more extremely detailed comic pages, so I'll just do simple ones... I also found out something nice that I wish I'd have known before. This is an excrept from - A Digression About Original Art Size - from The Complete's Idiot Guide to Creating a Graphic Novel by Nat Gertler and Steve Lieber ...So what's the right size? Many artists find that working one up, one and a half times the printed size (150 percent), is a good proportion. It's big enough to see what you're doing, but not so big that it hurts your productivity or takes over your apartment, and it's standard at most American publishers. For art that reproduces at 6 by 9 inches, working 141 percent larger gives you original art with a live area of 10 inches by 15 inches. That fits well on an 11- by 17-inch sheet of paper, which is a standard size available from art supply stores. It's easy to find express shipper boxes that can hold pages that size, and most professional photocopier shops can handle 11 by 17 without difficulty. When you want to see how an 11-by-17 page will reproduce when shrunk down, reduce it on a copier to 65 percent of its original size.Basically, my Holy War pages were way, way too big. 24 by 17, something like that. Oh well, I'll still submit them anyway, once I fix Illyana. I might do an extra couple pages too just to sort bring that fight scene to a close, we'll see what happens. Oh by the way, I've resigned from NarutoForums today as a moderator. My being administrator at Mangahelpers.com was making me inactive even THERE =/ I'm probably done with NF, though, so I should be coming around more often, definitely.
