Here is how it works. Every so often (if this goes well) I will post a topic with two or three films in it. We will then discuss the films everything from cinematography to the acting. This is you're opinion as to which film is better.
Here we go this time the theme is Vietnam and the three films are:
Apocalypse Now Full Metal Jacket Platoon
Three films. Three legendary directors. Now which film is better? Discuss. I will post my opinion later.

Maybe I'll do that for another one. Oh yeah just to add. If there's any films you want to discuss in one of these topics PM me and I WILL likely add it to a future one when I figure out a theme I can tie them into. Or a director so we can do a few director themed topics. Already ones I'm considering are Hitchcock, Tarintino, Speilberg, Scorsesse, Coppola, Welles, Kubrick, etc.. (Basically if they did two major films they're up for a topic. Some of them in the cases of Hitchcock multiple topics)
As to which film is better this time. It's a really tough choice for me. I mean Platoon and Apocalypse Now have two of the best casts ever assembled. Full Metal Jacket is the most interesting, but for me I'm also going to have to go with Platoon. As overall the film was more enjoyable. Plus it has Willem Dafoe in arguably his best role.
That's not to say Full Metal Jacket and Apocalypse Now aren't enjoyable it's just that Apocalypse Now was too artsy for my taste in places. Full Metal Jacket is directed by Stanley Kubrick (one of my favorite directors) but this isn't his best film IMO.
