I know this one is a little early But I was browzing the web, looking interesting news in the wold of film and television (still trying to find a DVD release of Space Above and Beyond), when i came across infomation regarding a new batman movie "A dark Knight" and an Iron Man movie. Neddless to say i immediately did what any good film fan would do and imdb'd the two movies and sure enough there they both are. Now given the interesting takes we have had on Batman in the past not sure we need another movie, however seeing as the last one was by far the best and with the pretty much the same cast, i am secretly hopeful that we are going to have another good atempt at one of out favourite Anti-heroes. As for Iron Man, not one of my favourite characters but still with there being so many comic book to movie adaptations of late the laws of averages state that we should be getting some more good crossovers soon (lets face it for the most part they have been dire). And i wouldn't really have been too bothered except that we apparently have Samuel L Jackson playing Nick Fury. This alone i think is going to be worth a watch. Oh and while i'm rambling on about new movies, that you have all heard about just not bothered to til me Silver Surfer also has his own movie next year...

I couldn't care less for the silver surfer, but then again, I'm not drooling over Jessica Alba ;D, the first F4 wasn't that bad, but I'll wait to go and see this one. I'll wait for the DVD Preminition looks cool, I like Sandra Bullock, but lately she had a few flops in a row, so I just might wait for the DVD again ;D Bourne Ultimatum, last of the serie of Bournes, I hope ;D First was great, second and thirth were bad so lets hope that fourth will save the other two

I'll likely see The Dark Knight, as Batman Begins was pretty good overall. As long as they keep Nolan and the main cast, we should still get a decent film. I have reservations about Ledger as the Joker... but at least the guy can act. Iron Man looks like it should be decent. If anybody can play a screwed-up addict, it's Robert Downey. ;D And I have to admit, it'll be good to watch an Iron Man who is not an evil dictator... Silver Surfer... eh, really. I'm not sure the character has ever quite worked on his own, thinking on it. He's had decent stories, but the character himself is rather flat. That said, Kirby designed much worse characters... the Black Racer makes the Surfer look brilliant by comparison. ;D

1-18-08 has really got me interested. There isn't mutch to know yet about it, but I'm hoping for something good. The Invasion looks cool. I've been waiting for another good infestation movie. ;D Plus I really like the acting of Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig (they're in another movie together soon too; the Golden Compass; interesting). 30 Days of Night; well, I'll say its a good idea. I don't have much faith in horror movies these days, but vampires in the Arctic Circle where night lasts a month? Awsome. Good cast too; and freaky looking vampires. Man, I'm really into the hell-on-earth movies right now, eh? Killerzzz

@gal: Bourne Ultimatum was the fourth movie? I thought it was the third. Then again, I stopped paying attention to those movies. Killerzzz

It was pretty good. I'd forgotten the other two, so I was a little confused, and they had alots of fun with making the fighting scenes as confusing as a fight would really be with their damn camera, but I liked it.

Yep Bourne ultimatum is the third and lets hope its better than the last two I liked all of them. Excellent action flicks. Would've left the Bond franchise in the dust if they had continued with their boring mannequin as Bond and each movie more ridiculous than the last.

I have to agree with that, Bond definately needed something new, I haven't actually seen Casino Royale yet (it kinda past me by) and therefore am still ont sure weather i am going to like Craig Daniels as our top spy (yeah right ). But really didn't think PB did a bad job at the role......but i actually agree with hector for once, the silly gadgets were getting out of hand.....An invisble car, great idea but the theory doesn't work.

Goldeneye was the only Pierce Brosnan one I really liked. It wasn't that I didn't like his acting; I just didn't like those movies, somewhat for the same reasons you guys just mentionned. Casino Royale was very different and very good. Actually, they took a big step away from the gadgets now that you mention it. They went for more action paction. Of course, they had the good old fashionned funny-looking unique-looking bad-guys all over. ;D Casino Royale is one of my favs. Craig did a good job; clap clap. IMO, it was a welcome change after all this time. He plays a Bond that is more openly confident, and stubborn (ie, young Bond, which is what he is essentially supposed to be). Killerzzz

Sorry, Bourne Ultimatum was indeed the 3th I guess the Bourne Supremacy was soo boring that it felt like two movies ;D The first Bourne was ok though.
About the Bond movies, there is only one James Bond for me, that is Sean Connery ;D

Bond stuck to the same formula long after the formula got outdated is the problem. Brosnan looked the part, but with the Cold War over the heart of the formula is gone.
The books are far grittier than the films, which is why they returned to source, I think, with Casino Royale, but they still made a mistake, IMO. There's a limited appeal in recent history, especially stuff that people might prefer to forget.
I liked the first two Bourne films, and I agree with Hec - if they continued like that, they'd likely finish Bond because they are very modern spy thrillers, reflecting the deep distrust a modern audience feels for its govt and keeping Bourne himself within the bounds of believability, if only just.
Bond's world in the films is far too black & white, far too simple to convince a modern audience.

I am looking forward to the next Bond movie. The guy who will be directing it is the director of Stranger than Fiction which has me perplexed as that was an odd movie.
I am also looking forward to the next Batman movie. The only cast member that wont be returning is Katie Holmes which IMO is for the best. Maggie Gyllenhall will be taking over Katie's role and will make Rachel Dawes a more believable character. Plus Maggie's cuter also ;D
Iron Man is one of my most anticipated of next year and I can't wait to see it.
Magneto is another movie I am interested in but I am worried it will be a trainwreck as David Goyer is directing. Now don't get me wrong Goyer is a competent director but I don't associate him with a story about the holocaust. But it depends on who they cast as Erik as to whether I will see this film. Call me cautiously optimistic.
Star Trek 9- I am interested in this movie despite only knowing that it will feature the original characters and Zachary Quinto will be playing Spock and Leonard Nimoy will be back also.

Bond's world in the films is far too black & white, far too simple to convince a modern audience. No. Audiences like Black and White, the more the better. Whether it's oiled muscle guys in speedos or big, transforming robots, audiences love it. Everywhere. And I was talking mostly about just me. I hated Pierce Brosnan as Bond ever since I watched Goldeneye. But audiences liked him, and his bond movies, fine. All of his movies had good box office and were well recieved by the public. But he was in danger of becoming stale and outdated. Despite that Die Another Day was the highest grossing Bond movie ever. The image of the action hero who fights dozens of bad guys without a single hair out of place and who had a gadget for every ocassion was replaced by the gritty, mean style of Jason Bourne, or Jack Bauer. They needed less of a male model and more of the world weary and rugged looks and Paramount casting Daniel Craig as Bond was an excellent choice. Going against the popular predilection of a Jude Law type of actor. And it paid off. Craig was almost universally accepted, and the movie hailed as wonderful action movie, gathering surprisingly good reviews and earning more than any other Bond movie before it.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. In fact I mostly avoided the Bond films until I was forced to watch Dr. No in my Films of the 60's class. I saw Connery's Bond get beat up a bit and was intrigued so I bought Connery's 3rd and 4th Bond films and noticed the slide into "Super Agent" and was about to give up UNTIL I saw Casino Royale. I wasn't expecting to be blown away like I was but that was easily one of the best films of 2006. Not just action-wise but overall. As long as they show that Bond is a man that can be harmed I will be in line opening day to see the suave super agent get the crap beaten out of him.

I stand corrected! Thanks, guys SPS - if you like a human Bond, you'll love the original novels. Not only does Bond get the crap beaten out of him quite often, he doesn't always get the girl, either.
