The Family Jewels by Marina & The Diamonds. Excellent album, though with a couple of weaker songs. Likely to make my top ten for the year, won't be #1. Yeah, after listening to it on My Space, it's a good album but not one I'd buy. There's only a couple of songs I'd want to hear repeatedly. The rest is good for radio.

It's a pretty typical first album, IMO. Some really good tracks, some a bit dodgy and better for giving you a first impression of the artist than any real idea of where they'll be in ten years time. I like it, but it won't still be on my disk player in six months' time. If there aren't any better albums this year, I'll be horrified. I don't think you can really tell much about an artist until their 3rd & 4th albums, honestly. That's when they tend to hit stride - or fall off entirely. Still worth supporting the up & comers I like though, IMO

A trance mix that one of the local clubs was handing out.

Gorillaz - Plastic Beach.Good, but sometimes it's on (Broken, Stylo, Rhinestone Eyes) and off (Sweepstakes just goes on way TOO damn long for its own good). I don't like it nowhere as much as their previous album Demon Days. Ke$ha - AnimalJust a fun and riotous album, from start-to-finish. If I'd wanna party w/ someone, it'd probably be with her.

Light and Magic with Ladytron - Haven't listened much to it yet. Industrialish synth pop. Had a dark, goth-like (strange and scary) sound and the first listen through songs had a tendency to float into eachother. I'm sure it will grow just like everything else if I only listen to it. Only By the Night by Kings of Leon - Great album, I'd already listened to it a lot when I bought it. Arty guitarr rock/pop (I think they call it Indie ) with clever arrangements and nice melodies. I manages to get the right level of experimentation to still pull off an album that isn't just interesting, it's genuinly great. Übereil

Hang Cool, Teddy Bear by Meat Loaf. Solid album, good tunes, but unlikely to blow you away. A good buy for ML fans, though.
Infestation by RATT. Good solid Metal album. RATT fans will like it a lot, but unlikely to convert anyone who is not a fan.
