"Wish you were here" august column

To everyone

Due to the summer holidays, this months column is a little late, so, without any further discussion let us put the show on the road...

August, summer, hot sun and a nice peaceful time (or busy one as you wish). This month's column is truly dedicated to the blueish summer, pools, water and being with our loved ones. So i've chosen an half dozen of pics that better represent what i've seen/felt along this last few weeks.

All the photos were made by usinga sony cybershot P150 digital camera (carl zeiss lens)...my wife's cameras (which lead to several in love disputes - 2 photo lovers and only one "new toy", lol)


a whole day at the pool, just refreshing, swiming and shooting...my gal's arm diving




an almost imaginary scene...shoting what's going on my love's head?!




a bee in the pool...i spent a few times being the bees lifeguard, since they are pretty much attracted by wtaer, so they just go near the pool and throw themselfs in...




a cloudy (yet hot) day at the beach...and an almost minimalist view.

a close look at the main (old) controls of the street car at Oporto...beautiful light and fine walks...




i love her skirts...she's my sun!




finding shapes and imaginary creatures/characters on the botom of crystal waters, another way of hunting down a few shots...a pic from a great day spent on natural lagons




her natural sea beach tatoos...




an end of the day pic...




and the last photo taken during the flight, while was passing on the small screens a (great) documentary about Portugal, took this photo, nothing incredible and it made me a chill going down my spine.
one of my favs....and i already miss my country!!!

thanks old chap, you're making me blush with so many compliments

this pics are the begining of a new evolution of my style. i've worked for a longtime (more than 10 years) exclusivly with B/W film/material, mostly because i've wanted to control/experience all the process of "making" a photograph (from chosing the film, the chemicals, the papers and then developpe all my stuff)...this first serious approach brought me a lot of experience and knowledge about the basic and advance knowledge of B/W photography.

so you could say i was a rather "old school" photographer, which never was much interested on colour/digital photography (being the opposite of my wife's photographic fav. area - fashion and colour, lol).

anyway, the "old school" discovered the digital world very recently and is like re-discovering for the first time the act of create/produce/build up a photography, specially since i've broken the seal of "only B/W" wandering spirit, lol.

so this are just the first baby steps of something new...don't know where is going to take me, but is another passionated universe (digital photo along with colour).

and in the process my "style" has pretty much been upside down...which amuses me a lot.
