To everyone Welcome to the first monthly photographic column of "Wish you were here" (experimental title, lol). This column will be a humble way of contributing in a creative (i hope) way to this community. One or a small group of photographies (that in a way are linked together) will be presented every month. Along (possibly) with a few small thoughts... In the end my main goal is to use photography in a way to invite you all to present/developpe a few thoughts/comments, etc... about what you see and more important, what you feel. So this "column" would end up being written a little bit by everyone. Welcome to this corner of yours, hope you enjoy your staying... This idea is dedicated to Elliot, cheers and chin up old chap. regards, Pedro. ps- if you have other interesting/appealing titles, feel free to present them here...

"wish u were here" is a nice title for photography column, pedro. it says exactly how one feels. will there be any theme of the month or something like that for photography column or is it more to analysis of pix or pix-taking presented?

Janggut nice to have a reply/feedback. this intro. piece of july is mainly the "oficial" presentation of the column. the "big test" will start in august where a 6 month photographic project will be presented. so in answering to your question, yes there will be a theme/main line. but that doesn't mean it won't change, it can/could also be an only "one to one month" theme, each month about a certain subject/theme etc... developped by one or more photos. thanks for the kudos for the title... if anyone has other sugestions/questions, feel free to drop by... if there are requests, i can also present/point out the technicals aspects linked with each photography (specially since the next ones will be in black and white, all of them developped/worked by me - the film and the paper alike). regards

pedro, do u happen to have a point-&-shoot camera? maybe u can do a comparison on the side - manual vs auto, analog vs digital, more vs less (in terms of equipment). thanks. edit: what do u think? links to pix or have the pix show up immediately in the posts? the reason i ask is that it takes quite some time for my dialup to download the pix especially when there are so many to load at one time.

Janggut these photos were taken by a digital camera (sony cybershot) with a minimum of control over aperture/speed. at this time i'm still starting to enter on the digital photography universe, and since i'm more of an "old school" photography (where you control the camera dn all the film/paper developement) i'm still getting my first kicks of it. regarding the comparisons (reviews?) what kind of comparisons would you like to see?! camera/film/paper reviews?! it would be very interesting to present a few reviews/points of view... since i'm not thinking on putting up a lot of pictures each time (4 max.) maybe i'll stick with the posting directly here option...but if you have problems with it, i can try to get another solution... the next few months will be completly different from the theme/equipement used and type of photography...it will be "old school photography projects"...and there for much richer/complex than the process/options used in this "small oficial intro" photos. regards

woohoo! i'm looking forward to your articles, pedro. since u're going to feature both new & old technologies of photography, i certainly think reviews will be good. as for pix showing immediately in the posts, i'm ok with it as long as it's not too big & too many. as for digital photography, i am always concerned of response speed. i have been frustrated by most digital camera as they are too slow in reaction to me pressing the button. i helped a few friends taking their wedding photos & i always end up with digital cameras. fortunately for them to have more than just myself to take pix. which is why i feel point-and-shoot camera is also very important to camera enthusiast as it has the speed most 'advanced' cameras do not.
