In America everyone connects pink to gay. Or metrosexual. Or cool. It all varies, depending on who you are.
Personally I love wearing blue, it's one of my favorite colours. I try to stay with black/white/blue for the most part, though I do have several red, orange, green, etc shirts.
The belts look ridiculous, but they are just there to draw attention to the breasts of the women.
People think the 80s were really cool, when in reality we just need the memory of them to die completely. What a horrible, horrible time. But people are still wearing the 80s styles, I have no idea why.
Nero its worse in Europe. The guys wear capris there! Capris on guys!!
I know way too much about fashion >.< ... My girlfriends gift to me for Christmas was some very awesome dorky t-shirts haha. Maybe a subtle hint that I need to stop dressing like such an [Censored] all the time.
Any more fashion questions? I can help too, unfortunately >.<

I love to wear purple and I'm not trying to be a wanna be goth or anything It's just one of my favorite colors. As for belts, they can be a nice accessory to a rather dull dress or a jeans, but some people just don'tknow how and when to wear them. I prefer small belts, with a little bling when I'm going out to dance.
As for the fashion disasters, my father loves to wear sandals with grey socks, horrible! And how about wearing schooluniform for a guy with basketball shoes underneath? Typical English schoolwear I saw when i was in Canterbury, UK. The British are known for having no taste in fashion, you can pick them out of a crowd when they are on holiday in Belgium. Chinese people also have that lack in taste for fashion, learned from the British I suppose ;D

Lord have mercy...
SO I was flicking through some recent celeb pics and I discovered that some people just never grow up...
dear Avril Lavigne for example. Mind you, I loved her back in ´02, I really did but she lost me at about ´05 when her whole "look I´m a pretty scene barbie" mood got the best of her.
So recently, she was attending a charity event (good thing, no complaints about that) but hell, she was wearing BODY GLITTER! You can´t wear body glitter over the age of 14...furthermore did she decide to wear just another prom dress...you are 25 girl...
There are some things, that can´t be done over a certain age - fashionwise - it just isn´t cool...
Cuse the rant everyone, just had to.

I hate "rules" about how young or old people have to be before they wear certain things. If a 65 wishes to glitter like a vampire, so be it. I really enjoy when people are just comfortable and happy wearing whatever the hell they wish. I wish I could be like that!
If my 74 year old grandma wandered out wearing a fluffy pink prom dress, I would think she was the most awesome person ever.

Generally, I agree. What if she wandered around wearing a fluffy pink... bikini? ;D

That would be slightly strange to witness, but I'd still think it would be awesome.
Okay, that is a really disturbing image. Why must you do this to me!

If she did it not out of confusion or mental illness, I would think she is a very self-assumed and audacious person; which is neat... Not sure I would want that to become considered fashionable though. Sorry, I just couldn't resist after the cute image of grandma in prom dress.

^ But we aren´t talking normal person here, e talking celeb. The worst thing a celeb can do is either changing his image too fast, too dramatically or not changing his image for too long. Nobody cares what a 16 years old does but if that same 16 years old grows up under the public eye, it is expected to change accordingly. If a celeb uses a worn-out or bad image,, it will eventually fall back at him. The press will kill the person and in case the celeb isn´t "famous" for being badly dressed (hello Britney!), the bad media attention will infect the fans and that will influence ticket- and merch sales. Being a celeb is a job. One wouldn´t go to the office in flipflops and a blue tutu either (not if one wants to keep his job). If you decide to live your life under constant observation, you have to adjust to the 'duty' you burden yourself with. And I really wanna see your granny in a puffy pink promdress ;D EDIT, thats for Ash of course

And I really wanna see your granny in a puffy pink promdress ;D EDIT, thats for Ash of course It wouldn't surprise me, to be honest. She used to go to super fancy operas and has really ridiculous and gaudy clothes from the 50's and 60's. Except the one I'm talking about most likely has Alzheimer's or dementia.. My other grandma is a total southern belle but doesn't like attention being drawn to her. There is no way that would happen.

In America everyone connects pink to gay. Or metrosexual. Or cool. It all varies, depending on who you are. Yes, I'm doing this to you! And an old post, too. We call it douchebag pink! The belts look ridiculous, but they are just there to draw attention to the breasts of the women. Not true! Some dresses or shirts look really dull and like they're missing something, so in come the belts. Plus it also draws attention to your waist if you have a nice one. I know way too much about fashion >.< ... My girlfriends gift to me for Christmas was some very awesome dorky t-shirts haha. Maybe a subtle hint that I need to stop dressing like such an [Censored] all the time. Any more fashion questions? I can help too, unfortunately >.< Well, you are a dummy! I think you spent more on clothes than me, didn't we figure that out? And more on shoes, too. You should not spend more on shoes than me. ------ I love thigh highs! I am actually fairly obsessed with socks and spend more time buying them than any other item of clothing. When we moved, most of my clothes fit in a medium sized moving box while a large box was devoted entirely to my epic sock collection. I've got toe socks, knee highs, over the knee, thigh highs, knits.. In a large variety of colours! One has bells so I jingle when I walk and another glows in the dark because I am a total dork. I love pea coats. Bright red ones! I love colours and tights and shoes.. I'm fairly picky though. I'm getting too excited and am going to walk away before I start posting too many pictures of things I like.

@ Ash - May I steal your glowing socks? plsthxbye. I had to google what a "pea coat" is first, y´know it´s hard enough to learn english to an alright level but then you bloody english speakers decide to not have the same names for things in diff englishspeaking countries ;D (thank gawd there´s wiki) - anyway, now I know what a pea coat is and uh oh, like! Furthermore would I like to visit your granny an steal her 50s and 60s clothes please. Rant. Yay.

I'd be happy to lend you some!
I'm sorry for being an evil English speaker. BUT AREN'T THEY THE CUTEST THINGS?! I'm in love with Blair Waldorf and I've always loved pea coats, but her amazing ones are making it worse.
I'm talking bright gold things, crazy heels (She actually can't wear flats), and fur coats. You sure?
I'd take pictures but I think she may have given away a lot of the really, really gaudy stuff recently.

Very sure apart from the fur coats, I ain´t wearing fur.. but the rest sounds like fun ^^ So, do we totally need a girly "show what fashion/item you must_have_now" thread?

I think we must.
And then everyone else will run away scared, but we will eat cake and laugh at them.
Fur scares me! I've always thought it looks super trashy and I think the same thing about gold and diamonds.

^about the gold & diamons - not trashy when "vintage"

I never would wear fur or diamonds and gold for obvious reasons. There is way too much blood on that for me to wear it innocently.
Btw, have you seen the new trend that is coming up here for this years autumn? Trench coats in all sizes and colors, but even in purple it's a horrible coat

^too much blood on them? Well on the fur, sure but on gold and diamons?
Did you ever check out how cotton is collected? Or what it means to work in an Adidas factory in Sri Lanka? If one´s really so into saving the world, one can´t wear (or eart, drink, visit) anything.
I wasn´t in Belgium long enough the other day to see that but I like Trench Coats.. at least the classic ones, sorry ^^(I actually like any kind of coats) can you post some pictures of the recent Trench Coat fashion in Belgium?! Pretty please ;D
