If you have something computer related you need help with, you can ask here.
My current problem is that Firefox has crashed twice for no apparent reason, once yesterday and once today. I didn't do anything extraordinary, I was simply writing a post on a forum when Firefox all of a sudden closed down, and I got a "Firefox has crashed, send report to Mozilla" message/window. Any suggestions on how to solve this? It's no biggie, since restarting will restore all your tabs the way they were before the crash. But it's a bit worrying.

Have you updated to the newest version of it ?
This kind of crash was common among earlier versions.

Hmmm... how about getting a script blocker? Some sites have bad coding which can crash your browser.

if u're using Firefox, u can always go for NoScript. just click Tools -> Add-ons, then go to Get Add-ons tab. type NoScript in the search bar then proceed to install once u have the link.

Ubereil:
Also, other culprits include recently installed software/drivers, any recent changes to your o/s, etc. but I think the culprit is as highlighted in the previous posts.

Well, FF has stopped crashing (why will probably remain a mystery until I die...), but there's another annoying problem. Everytime I log into Gmail the loader "freezes". IE it stops at some point and never finnishes. So every time I log in I have to refresh the page for it to successfully get into my mail box. I wonder why.
(Though I ought to get used to refreshing the loader immediatly after I press login.)

Try updating Java, Ube. That might help the latest problem.

...how did an update manage to slip me by? Not only did it dodge the auto update (which is sceduled to run once a week, the last time it ran was a month ago...), it allso dodged TWO Java development tools which you think would have updated it.
That didn't fix it, by the way.

The freeze is most likely a script on the page running that your browser doesn't like. Beyond that, though, your guess is as good as mine. Sorry...

Does anyone else who's running Firefox have this problem?

No unfortunately, my pc froze today. Bah... let's see how well it hangs on. And I'm quite sure it's MS' problem: their stuff even causes comps to cry!

From sysinternals, there's the excellent "autoruns".

I know what you mean...for some reason I can't install SP3 <...> Had the same problem on 2 machines. Manual download and install worked like a charm tho. Must be a problem with Microsofts automatic updates/web update I guess... whatever. ____________________________________________________ I have a problem with my video card - PC crashes if I try to open ATI Catalyst Control center as well as some of the games, like Warcraft: The Frozen Throne or GTA IV. Everything else seem to work normally. The crashes might have been poor installs of the games, but why would the ATI Catalyst trigger the crash is beyond me. I have the most up to date video card drivers and ATI software, checked and reinstalled to no avail. Mainboard : Gigabyte 945GCM-S2L Chipset : Intel i945G/GZ Processor : Intel Pentium E2200 @ 2200 MHz Physical Memory : 2048 MB (2 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM ) Video Card : ATI Radeon HD 2400 Series Its Win XP SP 3, kinda fresh install - all components drivers, directx, full winupdate.. I think thats all. I don't wan't to reinstall the OS, since I'm getting a new video card soon anyway, maybe that will fix the problem. If not, then I'll see what else can I do. Posting here just in case. Any ideas are welcome.

Firewall "PC Tools Firewall +" turned out to be the problem. It has been blocking something critical, that caused system to hang up on certain events. Not sure why, perhaps it was my own fault - I might have blocked something that I shouldn't.
