I just wanted to write to those of you here on CC who might´ve started wondering where lil' mobs has gone off to! Right now I'm 4months through my military service and soon I'll have a near 1month long holiday, after which, I'll be more than halfway done Some funny stuff I´ve been doing is - I´ve been shooting a lot with a rifle which was made in 1895, been loads of fun, real manly weapon xD German weapon imported to sweden back in 1920's smth for the remaining cavalry and the navy to use. And now on wednesday I'll be throwing handgrenades, wish me best of luck and that I don't accidently slip it ;3

Eh, wb! Hand Grenades eh? Sounds fun. Just don't accidentally toss it towards your direction. In which case, I got a suggestion: RUN and oh, have some roller blades ready so you can fly away.

Have fun Mobs, throwing grenades is indeed fun, just make sure you don't switch hands while you already plugged the pin out... Btw, check your msn, you might be infected with a bug

hey there, mobbie!! glad to know that u're now proficient in flintlocks. would be useful as a moderator to keep Pete away from the bar. well, at least till the gun powder runs out, which will be soon, as EK is still on his Guy Fawkes mission. "Gordon Brown!!" EK's voice shook, filled with venom. it's as if those words he uttered were curses! ;D since u'll be throwing hand grenades soon, do insist on the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch. if u know not of how to use it, please consult the Book of Armaments. now ................. RUN AWAY!!!!!

Jang - the depressing thing is that I already use 'going for a Blair' to mean 'going to the toilet' which leaves me no real way to 'appreciate' Brown! It's so sad... ;D

Depends. My father works in a government section that deals with bombs that were thrown onto Berlin and the areas around in during WWII, but never exploded. And now, they are accidentally found, during the time. I don't think most of you could imagine what this means : In every bigger town there might still lurk an old, sharp, never exploded bomb deep in the ground ... In the far most cases, they are disarmed by highly skilled people - but in very, very few cases this goes wrong. I think it was his year when on an area where a new building was biolt, a digger found it - and it exploded. Of 2 cases I read this year when a bomb exploded - but gladly no-one was near. One of these two incidents happened in Austria. Some bombs are so dangerous, that they cannot be disarmed where they have been found. Then they must be blown up. Where they have been found. Mostly this is when rust has destroyed the part which is elemental in disarming the bomb. (My dictionary calls that a fuse.) And when they must be blown up where they are found, people must be evacuated. Just in case nothing happens. This is also done when they are disarmed, the bombs, of course. How wide the area is, that will be evacuated, depends on the destructiveness (says my dictionary) of the bomb. And Berlin, as the capital during WWII, has the greatest amount of such bombs.

Lots of such unexploded bombs are also found nowadays in Flander's Fields. It's common for a farmer to come across a bomb or two while he's plowing the land.

I remember having seen a whole documentary about those things... It's awful. In some places it even wouldn't be uncommon that kids would find mines and the like and play with them as toys, not being aware of the danger.

Yeah. And that is the "dark heritage" of WWII ...
In the area around Isreal, things are even worse, and Iraq, too ...

In Belgium and prolly also other parts of Europe you can buy Blue shoelaces as a symbol for Handicap International to support the people that stepped on a landmine or a cluster bomb. Lots of playing kids lost a leg or worse. Princess Diana was godmother of this organisation iirc.

That's a nice symbol, the blue shoelaces. It's the irony behind that symbol, many children loose a foot or a leg by a clusterbomb, so the symbol is a blue shoe lace, since those kids will never be able to wear shoes again...
