Partly a reminder to myself, partly to find out what everyone else is likely to get in 2009. Which is already shaping up to be a scarily good year, IMO!
With a second single dropping in January, the debut album cannot be far behind for Ava Leigh who has been described as 'Reggae's answer to Joss Stone'. Her sound owes as much to Ska as Reggae, though, and a sub-genre of Reggae at that, so I am not sure how true it is. She DOES have a good sound, though.
Doug Walker's debut should also drop this year after quite a build up. He's Pop, but with a very original sound. He's gonna be huge. Check him out.
Natalie Imbruglia's new album should drop in March, which is great news for fans of the indie chick's music. It takes Natalie a while to create her albums but they are always worth waiting for.
A sort of debut only not really by Canadian Alexz Johnson sees her moving into Folk, but don't let that put you off. She's still infernally catchy and incredibly listenable.
Rockers The Dogs D'Amour have a new album ready for release, so that should be out next year. They have a unique sound and I love them. Have since their first album, way back!
Michelle Branch has a new album due next year. Not sure how I'd describe her sound, but you probably know her, anyway. She's not exactly a newbie![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
The Temple Cloud Country Club should drop their debut in 2009. Looks like a good year for debuts. They're... Indie. Definitely. Very floaty sound, very cool.
Rumour has it that Aly & AJ should have a new album out next year (They're certainly working on it!) which will not displease a certain Rockergrl I am sure! ;D Nor me, for that matter. They're easy to underestimate, the Michalka Sisters, but they create some good music![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
I'd be stunned if Gospel/Country group Gloriana didn't drop their first album this year, too. Best known right now as 'Cheyenne Kimball's new band' they show distinct promise of evolving into something rather unique.
It's a safe assume, as the first single dropped a while back, that Hayden Panettiere's debut album should drop next year, too. As long as the single is an aberration and nothing like the rest of the album, I'll be happy. If not...
And that's just what I know of! Looks to be a good year!![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
