Hi everyone! It's a nice day! Are you having a nice day! I'm having a nice day! Yaaaaaaaay! ... So anyhow, I was involved in a car accident a couple hours ago. I'm fine, but you know, it wasn't fun. My first if you can believe that. See, here's how it happened. I'm at an intersection. The light is green. I start to pull out to get ready to turn left. The lady opposite me pulls out and starts crossing. Then out of freaking nowhere a car runs the red light smashes into the chick who was crossing! They say it's like time slows down when the sh*t hits the fan, and it's sorta right. I had time to think: "Holay crap, an accident right freaking in front of me!" That was in the first split-second. Because then the person who ran the red light veered off of the collision right toward me!! At that point I had enough time to think: "Oh HELL no, F#&^ that, you are not crashing into me right now." Then it did. I got pushed from the middle of the intersection all the way back to the line for waiting for the light, almost as if the car was saying "ohnoyoudon't, get yo ass back in line, biatch!" That's how it felt anyway. After all the movement was over, I had PLENTY of time to think: "Damn... I think I'm gonna be late... :[ " So, I got out of the car, checked to see if the others were alright. They were already getting out and seemed okay if only shaken up. The one who ran the light was an old lady, about 70 or something. I asked what street we were on because I couldn't see the sign (and I think my brain was still in some sort of shock, because I couldn't think of the name myself), then called the po-po. As I began telling the person on the line what was up, the bus driver behind me said she already called, so I told them, then hung up. Next was all the stuff that happens at the accident and all the insurance crap. I took some pictures, so I'll show you them this weekend I think. ;D They aren't that great, on my cell, but meh. Damage doesn't look that bad. A few dings and scratches. Surprising really (but probably because the old lady's front was already torn up and it was just a horizontal array of tattered remains that hit me). I'm not sure if the axle is okay. It drove fine, but when backing and parking, the car felt like it was a little shaky. But maybe I was just looking for a problem where there isn't one. Still, gonna have it checked out. It was funny. While I was waiting when the officer was talking to the person who got hit, an old guy who saw what happened walked up and talked to me for a bout a minute or two. When we were done, he said, "Well, it's too bad you don't smoke, or I'd ask you for a cigarette." I wondered how he knew I didn't smoke. Then I realized that a dude who just got in a car accident would probably be puffing away if he smoked. I've been wondering if this was somehow MEANT to happen. Because I had some time before I left. So I was like, "I'm tired, I'm gonna take a nap." So I did. And I made sure I had three different alarms to make sure I woke up in time to leave. They all went off, and I woke up just enough to turn off each one then doze off again. Then I had a dream. In the dream, my watch alarm went off and wouldn't stop beeping no matter what I did. It was pretty annoying. It stopped eventually, but the dream drifted off and I woke up. Then my watch started beeping for real. I stopped it and realized that I had set three alarms on my watch as well... yesterday. The first one was the one from my dream. Boy was I happy they woke me up in time, or I woulda been late! Lucky me! Killerzzz

Glad you're ok K, but now I'm wondering if the accident wasn't a dream? With you, you never know

Glad you're alright, Kaz! Damage to your car is waaaay secondary, I assure you! Sounds like NO-ONE was seriously hurt at all, which is great!

Hehe, you still sound on the high of the aftershock. ;D On the moment I think I would have just been furious after the old lady though, especially under the rush of adrenalin. But yeah, after living something like this, I can believe that you do enjoy your day. ;D

Wow! I'm glad you're alright. That sounded like one hell of a smash.
After seeing a few red-light runners in my time, I always hesitate and look for a moment if I'm first in the queue. Many truck drivers here misjudge (purposely or accidently) the traffic light and plow through the intersection too late at high speed.

Glad you're ok K, but now I'm wondering if the accident wasn't a dream? With you, you never know Oho! Maybe I never woke up from that doze! Mmmmmm, I don't feel like questioning reality today. Too tired. It sure felt dreamlike at the time, though. ;D I couldn't believe it! Damage is still there though... unless I'm STILL DREAMING!!!!!!!111 (oh, now look what you gone and done ) Glad you're alright, Kaz! Damage to your car is waaaay secondary, I assure you! Sounds like NO-ONE was seriously hurt at all, which is great! Yeah, wasn't much damage, though... it's really starting to look like that axle got messed up. Feels funkeh. Gettin it checked tomorra. Besides, insurance is payin for it all. ;D Yeah, everyone was ok. I had a little headache, and was a wee bit sore today and yesterday, but hardly noticeable, nothing to worry about. I'm sure the other two were much more sore. Hehe, you still sound on the high of the aftershock. ;D On the moment I think I would have just been furious after the old lady though, especially under the rush of adrenalin. But yeah, after living something like this, I can believe that you do enjoy your day. ;D Hehe, yeah a bit. ;D Also mixed in with a high on lack of sleep (you know those?). I was a little angry at first (I got in my car for a moment after I checked if everyone was okay, and expressed myself to the dash ), but not at her. Just the situation. In fact, when I looked at her, I just couldn't help feeling bad for her (you know, that way old people have of seeming helpless; "I thought it was green. Wasn't my light green?"). When it came to having to tell her it was her fault, I tried to do so kindly but firmly. But after my moment of privacy, I was pretty dandy about it. Yay! I gots a story to tell, and no injuries along the way! I actually found myself laughing to myself a little (on the inside; don't wanna look crazy in front'a the cops ). They had one hell of a smash, I got a wee aftershock. ;D That's what annoyed me so much at first: I wasn't even involved in the main collision! It's just that the runner bounced off and got me on the rebound. Two for one! Overall, I'm just glad that everyone was okay, and I was fortunate enough to be nothing but minorly inconvenienced. I'm gonna start uploading the pics soon, so I should have them up later tonight. Killerzzz

Iiiiiiit's Picture Tiiiiiiiiiiime! ;D You may notice that I've blurred out stuff like license plates and faces and signs and my reflection. Just click on the small pictures to see the big detailed ones so you can appreciate the damage on the old lady's car. Also, the big versions won't have my little commentary. P.S.: My 'car' is actually the red van, fyi. The first pic is a close-up of her headlight all dangly and messed up. The next one is basically what everything looked like right after I was done being pushed along. Also, that white stuff isn't snow. It's some powder they spread, because the old lady's front was effed up and all the liquids from different tanks were leaking out! The powder is to soak it up and prevent reactions or fires, I guess. The third is when they pulled her car away from mine to get it ready to be put on a truck. I took the liberty of re-enacting what happened. ;D I'm the pink car waiting to turn, the red car to the left is the one minding it's business driving through the intersection on a green light, and the red one in the middle is the old lady going full speed (50 km/h) through a red light smashing straight into the side of the other car. The red line under the pink is a representation of about how far I got pushed back (farther than my drawing gives credit, what with the 3D and all that). The next one is the external damage I took. Not much as you can see. Luckily the front of the car that hit me was already kaput. Still, I think some stuff on the inside might have been more badly rattled. And the last picture is where the woman ended up after the old lady rocked her socks off. Unfortunately you can't see the damage too well, since it's being blocked by the garbage it shoved. Still, that's being flung from your lane, through another, across the street, over the sidewalk, and into the store. It's a good think nobody got hit! So there ya have it! Fun stuff! ;D Killerzzz

Lol, your pics are fun to look at, though the accident wasn't. But all in all, no one got hurt and if everyone was ok with their insurance, I guess this will be something to tell the kids later ;D

Lucky for you, it looks like just some small cosmetic damage that you got... Guess you were happy to drive that beast and not some kind of Mini, Swift or Smart. ;D The woman in the black Honda must have been in for the hell of a scary ride though!

Thanks guys. ;D Well, I brought it in before the weekend started. Hehe, it's all effed up. I forget the details, I think I have them written down around here somewhere... but anyhow the internal damage was pretty bad after all. Something about front motor manual or something and uh... the strut? And the strive shaft? I'm not sure if I'm remembering the terms correctly. Anyhow, lots of mechanical damage to the motor and wheel area stuff (I think the axle is having some fun too). Plus that little bit on the outside. I think the grand total is approx. 3000$. That's what somebody estimated anyhow. I feel bad for the old lady who's payin' for it. The rental they gave me to use for now is a waaaay better ride than my van! ;D They can keep mine, gimme this. I'm nervous using it, because I can't chance getting even a scratch on it, or else. Killerzzz PS: Rhiian, don't feel bad for laughing cuz I'm laughin too! ;D K.

Reminds me of a call I got a few days ago where a woman ran into the local BOA Bank.......then some half wit decides it'd be a good idea to cut off the road and check on her but he somehow managed to run into her front end. Ugh. What a mess. I've never seen an anti-freeze tank bust like that...
Glad you're alright, Killer....gotta watch out for these boneheads....

Nice to see than even a car crash can make some fine lol pics ;D And ofcourse nice to hear you're allright. I also watch out every time I cross a green light. It just gives me an itchy, uneasy feeling that something just like this might happen.
Do you still know what feeling you got when you heard the sound of your car "crashing"? I once hit a tree (just a minor bump), but the sound of that just freaked the wits out of me.

Heh, yeah now I'm paranoid every time I'm at an intersection. ;D Do you still know what feeling you got when you heard the sound of your car "crashing"? I once hit a tree (just a minor bump), but the sound of that just freaked the wits out of me. I'm kinda blanked-out on what happened during my impact. Got a little jarred, I did. That is, I don't have any clear memory of it other than "damn, imma be hit!" and "ouch, mah head!" and "ok, seems like it's over..." Don't remember much in between those emotions/thoughts (ie, my impact and the drag). But I DO remember what it sounded like when the other two cars got hit. ;D The sound of a motor/wheels/movement in a direction where no motor/etc should have been running (ie the old lady's car) followed by the deep sound of a thick sheet of ice shattering and crunching (that's the impact) followed by dragging metal (probably someone's messed up wheel or pieces of the car body going around on the pavement or something). Then I got hit. Killerzzz

Btw, this incident really reminds me of the time I was in Primary school and my father picked me up with a busted bumper. To make it worse, I think I knew who the culprit was(he WAS). Mainly 'cos whenever he liked to drive, my mother and I would try not to ride with him. 'Cos his driving was very reckless and once, he nearly drove someone off the road as he was pissed off at the motorcyclist who'd tried to cut the lane. What happened was that the guy got a real shock, my mother was freaking out and I got tossed 360 degrees in the car(I've NEVER done a backflip/somersault before in my entire life.). And I got a real fright of my life: totally turned cold inside 'cos it was a very close shave with death. I was about 8 then.

Yesterday someone from my year in college died. He wasn't in my classgroup though, so I didn't really knew him. He crashed with his moterbike (while driving home from college) on a car that moved into the lane he was driving, without noticing him. Quite scary to hear such things. I actually still thought "hm, nice bike", when I saw it parked in front of the school building yesterday afternoon. Who could know that it would crash only a few hours after that...
