Hah, I forgot to type up the recipe. I'll do in it the next couple days, promise!
Could you afford any oils to add in? I'm sorry you're having such a hard time!
Also, bumping this for my friend Tim (Switch), another veggie convert! I'm slowly trying to get him to go vegan, ahem.

Edit: sorry for jumping in here. Oh my goodness kitty, your voice is so soothing. I feel like the world's troubles are going away. Veggies mmm... sometimes, I wish we could have more but the supermarkets and wet market stalls keep running out of food quickly.

Too bad. ;D As for me, well, my diet's about 70% fruit and vegetable, 20% starch and only 10% meat... Nowhere near as bad as so many people I know.

Oh, I see. Hmmm... you must have access to a lot of different veggies and fruits then. Come to think of it, this is a partial list of veggies I like: broccoli, kailan, lettuce, spinach, kangkong , xiao bai cai, string beans, lady's fingers, green peas(especially the ones that come in the pod), green and red peppers, celery, chick peas, lotus(roots, etc.), red beans, leeks, bamboo shoots, potatoes, bak choy, water cress, chrysanthemum leaves, leek, onions, garlic, ginger, ginseng, radish, taro, sweet potato, yam, water chestnuts, etc. Stuff I hate, absolutely hate: Bittergourd... yuck, yuck. this stuff sends me reeling in tears and depression whenever i have to eat it. And pumpkin.  I tried that some time ago... disgusting, it was like chewing on something yuckily ultra-sweet like carrots. Avocado, another yucky thingy that tastes really really mushy like... feasting on the raw insides of some poor animal. Stuff I'm okay with but won't eat most of the times unless it tastes good in a dish: tomatoes, carrots, turnip, cucumber, eggplant, maize aka sweetcorn. And there's one more veggie: cellagie or something like that. I just can't find the spelling for it. #@$@# -__-;;

I love broccoli, kale, spinach, lettuces that aren't iceberg, grean peas (From the part is better than anything!), celery, onions, potatoes, water chestnuts, sweet potato, pumpkin (Have to be honest - only like it in sweet things!), tomatoes (Only from a garden or farmer's market), corn, lotus, carrots, avocado (You have to get the right kind.. Haas are the best here).. Etc. I can't remember anymore, haha. I love brown rice and quinoa.. Then cannellini, white, pinto, black, and lima beans. Black eyed peas!
Things I can do if prepared properly - Cauliflower, green beans, stronger flavoured lettuces/leafy greens (Still can't do endives), eggplant, cucumber, garbanzo beans (Very few things I can enjoy these in), squash..
I cannot stand Brussels sprouts no matter what I do. So icky! Other than that, I am fine with pretty much anything.

How do lotusroots taste?!?!?! *goes to the asian markets to check if they have it* And thx Sonar people seem to like my german videos (and the french ones) on YouTube mainly because of my voice, not because of what I try to teach Oh btw - I'm back in Australia and therefore have more money again and can afford more foods but, interestingly, the frist thing I bought wasn't chicken or ham or whatever but lentils. Lentils! Weird. (oh and gouda cause.. that's why! ;D)

Taste? Darn... it tastes divine to me. ;D It's pretty crunchy . From some page: www.meltingwok.com/2007/02/lotus-root-fries.html"Helene, lotus root has a cross-taste between a potato, water chestnut and a jicame, more fibrous and crunchy in texture wise. Hope that answers your question ? Cheers ! " Lentils, hm? I'll watch more of your vids soon. LOL@ what they say about your YT vids.

Lentils are the greatest thing ever, totally don't blame you for choosing them!
Currently living off of vegan "jello" and soups.. I love vegetables so much, ahh soup.

So we went out to dinner tonight and I ordered a vegan garden burger from the restaurant, and the waitress asked me if I wanted to add bacon to it 0.0.
Lentils are amazing! Ahh they're great.

Lews, maybe she meant "bacon"? Like in, smoked tofu? I just came back from Alice Springs (the middle of Australia) and had some awesome "Dumplings with Cheese and Bacon" there, which actually were herbal dumplings with cheese and smoked tofu. (from a vegetarian-asian restaurant) @ Ash - but don't eat too much of that jello or you end up like those japanese girls... {here was a link about the japanese and jelly diets before but someone ask me to delete it (no, not Eli for once ) so if you are interested, google is your friend}

I'm eating it because of surgery though, I can't eat much else! Don't worry, it has some calories and vitamins!
And Kitty, yeah you'd think that is what they meant, but no.. Lots of people just don't think things through and genuinely think you want real bacon on/in your vegetarian food. For instance, in southern states I tend to have more problems because they use bacon grease to cook most vegetables. In the case of restaurants, sometimes they are required to ask such questions or they'll get in trouble.

^ Ok cool Ash, I was just worried. What kind of surgery?! Are you ok? And yea the bacon thing, it just seems funny to ask someone for bacon when it's a vegan dish When it's vegetarian I could see that some people might not really get the point but vegan is like.. hardcore

Kinda in a lot of pain, but looking forward to not being nauseous every time I eat something! They took my gallbladder out because it was EVIL.

^ ;P
But what splits your lipids now and make your liver work properly? The gallblader is kinda useful, so how does that work now?
(I'm tempted to talk lengthly about Hippocrates now but I'm just a weird medicine history geek so nevermind me..)

Well, I had quite a lot of gallstones so it was no longer working properly anyways. They were blocking the bile duct and then going back down, which I guess caused it to form a lot of scar tissue. It was severely enlarged and irritated. Basically, the surgeon said it was useless anyways and there seems to be no bad side effects of having it removed.
EXCEPT FOR THE HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE PAIN.
ahem.
You are totally free to talk in length about Hippocrates! Psst, trying to get Elliot to do a Lifestyle and Health section so we can be nerds about this stuff together!

Ah ok, sorry for the pain I think that this section is fine actually. "lifestyle" is enough for talking health I think, as long as it's not overflowing. A special health section seems a bit unpractical to me, since not all members here wanna talk about illnesses (what I understand). And I'M the moderator here, so I say it's cool like it is ;P

In that case they could do what I do with the Comics section: Ignore it completely. Übereil

I ignore many sections aswell.

Ehh, I thought maybe we could just add health to the title of this section but I guess not. Weird question Kitty, but do you ever have really silly things that make you supremely uncomfortable and even though you know it is stupid, you can't stop it from stressing you out a bit? I don't know how severe the asperger's is for you compared to my friends..
Also, we never made that thread for things we want to buy! We should do that. I'll probably forget in about five seconds though, haha.
