After screwing up on my Trippy music thread and ending up with a cross-genre topic, I thought it would be fun to do on purpose this time. So, what is the best music for listening to while driving? Also, say why, because there are different reasons to listen to songs for driving. Some consider some major gansta stuff with heavy bass the best ridin' music, cruising music. Others enjoy some nice fast rock that just makes you wanna speed! Or maybe you have some feel-good music, or country (bleh), or just like turning on the oldies station. Well? What is it?! Tell us!! As usual, I'll give my input later. Killerzzz

For driving, I´m a mix tape person Driving shortly, to the supermarket for instance - AC/DC hits. Because I don´t like shopping very much and AC/DC usually makes me sing along loud, what makes me happy Driving to the gym - Nevermore or In Flames. Because it calms me down AND brings me up at the same time, it´s about the singers´voices combined with the type of music, pretty helpful when I plan on doing different kinds of sport (cardio and muscle stuff etc) Long drives, to concerts, festivals etc - the bands that will play or if I get earcancer from listening to them, symphony x. Because SX is one of those bands I can listen to for the entire day without getting bored. Nightdrives - Korpiklaani, JBO, Manowar and anything else rather ridiculous, because fun keeps me awake. Driving to an cultural event where I have to think (a reading, an exam, an interview) - Bach. I know the meldoies but I can´t sing along = instant calming and focusing. So I guess I choose my driving music by the event I´m heading to. But very often. it´s just "the new album of <put in random Metalband>" because someone heard it somewhere and wants to discuss it or produced it and wants to get an opinion.

The ultimate driving song has to be Born To Be Wild by Steppenwolf. Pink Sunshine by Fuzzbox is also good, but I like any high energy Pop or Rock to drive to. Or I did, when I actually did any driving Rock as a genre has to be best for it generally, though. Or Metal. Or both ;D

kitty: I know what you mean. Different rides seem to call for different music, don't they? Though I'm not sure I have as stable patterns as you do. ;D The ultimate driving song has to be Born To Be Wild by Steppenwolf. Good call, Elliot! I'd completely forgotten that one! Yeah, I think that the best driving music is the kind that just makes you wanna SPEED! PEDAL TO DA METAL! And some fast-paced rock is just the thing! Some of my personal favorites include: 1. Click Click Boom by Saliva (ignore the little intro music ) 2. Step Up by Drowning Pool 3. Rockstar (remix) by N.E.R.D (its rap, but it feels rocky ) 4. Beyond Electric Dreams by Bad Religion To name a few. Of course, most Linkin Park and some Powerman 5000 are always nice. ;D Killerzzz
