Hmm - not that it is a great issue on THIS board - that is a way to gather someones birthday data and as such something that, if the Government or a commercial entity did it, people would scream about...

It also is a classic example on how easy it is to extract personal data from people (and be it only what colors they tend to wear...)

With respect to data protection on the internet - the biggest danger is YOU!

I think that glances point is that once you have a day and month, it's fairly simple to then guess the year (upto 100 different combinations as opposed to 36500).

While that is true, I actually really had no other intention other than a little general 'awareness call' - the internet is full of more or less funny games fishing for data.

The thought was triggered as I stumbled over a link on the t-online page with a little 'innocent' IQ-Test, the result of which was to be sent to your mobile after giving provider and phone number.

(Actually, I stopped my daughter - with the easy transfer of numbers nowadays, where you cannot anymore identify the provider from the prefix-number, this for example obviously is a playful means to identify who moves from where to where - among other things one can to with a mobile number...)
