the beatles once sung that all you need is love. After the last several months, I have concluded that this is not really true. As well as love, all u need is time.
And that is a very rare commodity for me these days. Today, i have a day...a WHOLE day.... where I have absolutely nothing to achieve, except making dinner tonight and doing the washing up. And so I thought id drop in as I mentioned i would briefl;y in my birthday thread and talk about....well me.
It occoured to me this mornign whilst perusing many of the threads here, that most of you would have very little idea who I was at all, and those that DO know me m,ay have forgotten some of the salient details. So this is a "Where have i been/ who am I" thread. Its all rather egotistical really. But Im ok with that.
my name is Craig, and a couple of weeks ago I turned the big 27. I live in the sunny city of sydney Australia, and work usually as a dispatch clerk in warehouses. Currently, Im unemplyed and looking for a job. My wife, Linda, is a Librarian, and we got married three and a half years ago....or thereabouts.
I came into the chaos as a former member of the Herorealm group, (Another site I almost never post on anymore). It was there i became friends with a lot of u old school Cascaders like Steve and Elliot. In fact once upona midnight dreary, Steve and i wrote and drew a Hero Realm comic, which i believe in the end i sent to Steve, since i cant find it anywhere.
That, I suppose, brings me to hobbies. whilst i am an artist of moderate skill, leaning towards a manga style of art, my primary hobbies are action figure collecting and filmmaking. On the toy front, I collect wuite a bit, from cheap Marvel legends stuff, to expensive import toys from the anime Macross (My fav series EVER). At 27 years old, the urge to play with toys should surely have abated, and yet it doesnt seem to have. I cant explain this, nor can my wife, though she tries valiantly to friends ("He's really very mature").
And then there is filmmaking. Now this started as something of a hobby as well, however now i am being paid for sporadic assistance on other peoples projects, so i suppose that I am now something of a professional. Which is somewhat gratifying really. As well as doing projects for others, I am the co-creator of the web series "The Polcheck chronicles" which is something of an experiment my friends and i do. it is a series on the web about a goofy detective, and it is entirely done in improv. Whilst we have a plot worked out in advance, all the dialogue and action is made up on the spot, which I think leads to more hysterical results....somewhat. usually. hopefully.
anyway our little series has now had many thousands of downloads, and has recieved some quiet praise along the web, which I find vry hopeful that we may be someday able to turn a profit out of this. Time will tell.
And thus my life is a busty one! the last day I had off where I did nothing at all, was sometime in June. Before that i had a few days off here and there, but between a couple of film projects (Including a Buffy fanfilm, for those of u who like the Buff), some film courses, teaching an editing class to young film makers, being married, having a lie and having a job, internet time seemed to slowly shrink, until my nightly wanderings of the web were limited to about 3 forums and a couple of web comics.
And thus i hope my presence, character and absence have been explained. tis a pleasure to have taken this time to reaquaint u all with the person I feel the most in common with... myself. Whilst it appear Elliot is offline at the moment, I have no doubt he will read this, since I have long held the theory that he and Steve are the one person (Ive never seen pictures of either, or heard eithers voices, they agree almost all the time and seem to often post almost simultaneously). i hope to be able to visit ina more timely and regular manner, so i look forward to getting to know all the unfamiliar faces. In fact, it seems to be ow predominantly unfamiliar faces. But thats ok, I like new people.
this is propbably the most long winded i will ever be.
