Barcelona have won their 5th Trophy of the year with this 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk, a team who's name most people have trouble pronouncing.
I'm really starting to wonder why UEFA even HAVE a Super Cup? I mean, it's like playing the Premiership champions against the Second Division champions! As it stands, it's pretty much a "David vs. Goliath" Cup.
But the amazing thing is that Messi only scored once against this little-known side. Why couldn't he have scored a hat-trick? And it's interesting to note that Barca played their best squad (with the exception of Andres Iniesta), but only could achieve a one-goal victory.
I guess sometimes, these "Little" teams are pretty good when they're in-form, but then again, my verdict is that Barca were merely unlucky to have quite a few of their chances miss.
Congrats to Barca on their latest trophy, and hats-off to Shakhtar Donetsk for their effort against the European Champions.

There are occasional upsets in the Super Cup. But only occasional and I don't remember the last time. The more teams there are in the CL, the less point there is to the Super Cup, really.
Only losing by one goal is a good result for Donetsk, sure, but then that's assuming Barca actually put any real effort into it...

Yeah, I guess the European Champions generally don't regard the Super Cup as highly as the UEFA Cup champions, so they won't put as much effort into it as the "underdogs..." Which makes for smaller goal differences, and not guaranteed to be a 4-0 drubbing... (which is a good thing, otherwise NOBODY would want to watch it, except the fans of the teams involved...) ;D

Um... People watch it? Really? ;D Yeah, at least here! Local football is SO bad (trust me, you've never seen anything so bad ), ANYTHING other than Indonesian clubs playing against each other is considered "classic." ;D
