Does this mean we'll see a Wolverine/Goofy crossover and will the Punisher be toned down so he'll no longer kill people but rather give them a moral sermon? It's definately weird it it will happen and I thought people here would be interested. I'm not sure if this should go in the comics or film section so feel free to move it if necessary. Interesting. Not least because Disney already have all the ex-CrossGen stuff.
I should imagine there will be a clear-out at the top, with a whole new management structure. I wonder if this will involve a massive brand relaunching, too?
I've only skimmed it quite quickly, but I see a lot of mentions of 'characters' and 'intellectual property' and stuff like that but little to no mention of 'comics'. I wonder how significant that is...

Because if you look at the way Disney has done comics in the US, they haven't really done well, and would probably allow Quesada and all the current people there to continue things as is until problems really really occur that actually affect Disney. Sort of like Time Warner and DC, or even Disney and Pixar.

I suspect you are right, Spider, that it'll be a similar arrangement to DC/Time-Warner. As long as the overall division makes money, it'll likely be left alone.
It's bizarre to me that Disney can sell so well in other countries that worldwide sales on some of its titles are in the millions, yet does so poorly in its home market.
Do you think the problem is mainly distribution, or is there more to it?

Interesting, and surprising. Not sure what to make of this yet, for my part. It´s significant, but I´m not sure how it will ultimately affect things.
Yeah, I was wondering about the CrossGen properties as well. Marvel already has quite a few ex-CG artists still working for them, along with some other ex-CG types like Mark Waid. It would be interesting if some of the CG titles could come back under the Marvel banner, but I´m kinda doubtful on that point.
With any luck, we´ll see Quesada finally gone from Marvel... but I won´t hold my breath on that until we actually see it.

It's probably because Disney want to expand into the realm of comics, and they'll need some professional help. Don't worry guys, they'll probably keep right on publishing Marvel's good comics! If they don't, then Marvel should refuse!

My $0.02: Disney wants a piece of Marvel's Film/TV pie. They'll be involved there, but will probably take a more hands-off approach to the rest of what Marvel does.
Of course, if Disney is smart, it will try to get Marvel characters in Kingdom Hearts.

Good call, MB! I hadn't even thought of game franchises. I suspect you're right on all counts, there.

I've been talking to a lot of my friends at University Alrik, and they all have the same reaction.
Most of my friends seem to think that Disney will kiddify Marvel. Frankly I'm looking at the good points of this:
IE Marvel will have access to Pixar, and they have already spoken. In fact I remember when Pixar briefly broke away from Disney Marvel had a deal cut between them.
Second Marvel will have Disney's considerable marketing power behind them, which I think counts for something.

From disney's point of view this is probably a way to get a less kiddy brand name that they can use, as they are kinda stereotyped into kiddy films, dispite the 18 rated titles they've produced.

Either that or they've fallen for the far too common trope of 'comics are for kids'...

They'll be involved there, but will probably take a more hands-off approach to the rest of what Marvel does. my thoughts exactly when i heard about this. there's been a huge rise recently in comic based films; spiderman, batman, the hulk, the watchmen, ironman, x men. All bringing in huge revenues and profits, and getting into the top 10 selling films of the week and what not.

Hm, I have the feeling as if there's something right in that thought ... Superhero comics always had a bit more "adult" touch to me when I encountered them ... With Batman being the darkest, I think.
Apart from the fact that I never liked superheroes, I don't know why.
But I think they wanna have kind of a foot into the door of the adult comics market ... You just cannot do movies and whatnot with certain themes with Mickey, Donald & Goofy. The 3 Musketeers is already a relatively dark movie with them, it couldn't become much darker now (apart from the rumor of a new Mickey-related game exclusively for the Wii).
It's just "too much" kids-related ... Well, I don't quite know. But I indeed have the feeling of them trying to come more into the more adult graphical novels or so ...
