Looks like the testing might be over in a couple of days, more and more people are giving up. A few have such horrible nightmares that they are afraid to go to sleep

I just came back from a visit at the hospital. I was a bit shocked to see my ex roommates. Two of them looked like zombies, one of them is afraid to go to sleep, cuz in his nightmares his worst fears come out. He has been doing those kind of studies for 6 years now and never had side-effects that were as bad as these. The only woman in the other group already had nightmares that were about committing suicide and she saw me dying . There is a guy who didn't sleep for 48 hours straight. He's getting really aggressive and edgy of course. He looks very pale. Two others stopped taking the pills, and refuse to continue. But they can't leave the clinic yet cuz that stuff has to go out of their vascular system. We talked for an hour and they think those pills are messing with your brain soo much that it might leave traces in the braincells for ever. One of the guys who stopped taking them, searched on the internet what the pills are all about. Appearently they contain Dopamine, something that can also be found in cocaine. Even though you agree with the study, I feel a lawsuit coming up here. I keep my thumbs up for those who are still in there

Really, really, REALLY glad you're out of there!
And yeah - I smell lawsuits, too. Those things are supposed to have reached a certain level of readiness before they move to live testing.

Really, really, REALLY glad you're out of there! And yeah - I smell lawsuits, too. Those things are supposed to have reached a certain level of readiness before they move to live testing. That's the whole problem here, the sponsor Novartis has to decide to stop the procedure. But in the meantime the nurses and doctors at the hospital have to continue. Of course everyone is of free will and I'm sure that they all will stop taking the meds. The cognitive tests that I also had to do when we started have such low results now, that it's soo obvious this study should be cancelled and the patients, that's what they are atm, will have to be observed untill the meds are completely out of their system.
Next time when I'm selected for a study, I will make sure that it's for some kind of ointment or for a stomac pill, not for a disease in the brain!

Yeech, Gal... that sounds absolutely nasty. I'm glad you're all right, though. Meh, a lot of medication these days just doesn't go through proper testing, which I've read somewhere, consists of about at least 5 to 10 years' worth of clinical trials for the more potent ones. A few months' of testing just doesn't amount to much. Incidentally, what was the drug for?

Hell! Smoking saved you for once. I certainly prefer mental clarity to €400 any day.

I'm REALLY glad you got out in time, take good care of yourself and make sure to drink lots of water (to help flush out your system)! Hell! Smoking saved you for once. I certainly prefer mental clarity to €400 any day. Well, 400 Euro's a lot of money over here, I bet it's still quite a sum over there. If I had the choice, one day's mental clarity for 5,000,000 Rupiah (equivalent of 400 Euro), I'd take it. Not for myself, but for one of the many orphanages I visit.

The medicine was for Parkinson's disease SC And THD, I didn't get any pills, I had to leave before the first dose was given I am indeed glad that I got out in time, I can't imagine my worst fears to happen in my dreams. This woman also has arachnophia and she saw big spiders crawling around her bed and closet I hope for the ones there who took the pills that there is no permanent damage...

Appearently they contain Dopamine, something that can also be found in cocaine. Yeah, it's also produced naturally in the human brain so you usually find it there too. Besides, considering: The medicine was for Parkinson's disease SC ...and the fact that Parkinson's disease is caused by the brain not producing Dopamine it's not that weird that it's in the meds. But apart from that I'm with Elliot, appears your unluck with the nicotine still being in your system might acually have saved you. Übereil

Keep in mind that in such trials they also usually give much bigger doses than those that will actually be prescribed to the patients, so it's no wonder that the side-effects on the test subjects would be more violent. ...And in general, the remuneration is proportional to the risk/uncomfort occured, too.
All in all, you personally got out of it in the best possible position this time, with the health intact, some cash and a valuable experience. ;D
