by the looks of things, he's not been recalled because he's honest, but because he demanded that his clients do things his way, rather than taking a more diplomatic approach.

I think they should sack the entire UN and get it out of my country. But of course that won't happen. It seems pretty obvious that Gaibreath was telling them that they were running a seriously crooked election...of course they want him to go... His boss is being a "coward", not a diplomat, seeing as his way will not accomplish any change in the elections. Nothing new in this system... ;D

It's certainly not diplomacy. It's folding. This was a blatantly crooked election. Even by the standards of some African dictatorships, it would be considered out of order, which is really going some.
Let's face it, the UN wanted this guy to shut up because the current incumbent suits them, so they don't care HOW crooked he is. Interesting definition of 'democracy'...
