Well as long as some dead animal is in it, it's meat...
...never understood the fashion to make burgers (and other fast foods) at home. Personally, if I want fast food, I go have fast food but when I want something decent, I wouldn't get the idea to make a version of junk somehow. Apart from sandwiches maybe, but even there - what's Subway for! (PS: Subway rules!)

Is it gross to make hamburgers at home? It's all.. bloody. I've seen my mom do it so many times and she says she just doesn't think about it. I don't really see the point of it either. Making sandwiches at home, I get.
Every time I pop into this section and see the thread title, it grosses me out even more. Ugh.

Apart from sandwiches maybe, but even there - what's Subway for! (PS: Subway rules!) Hm, it must be only here that they make the "meat" out of treated soybean extract, see, there's a lot of vegetarians here in Medan (they're pretty much all Buddhist Chinese), but they still like the taste of meat. So they came up with that alternative. I'm sorry, I often use the words hamburger/burger/sandwich interchangeably, I tend to forget the distinctions. I guess the most appropriate term for what I mean when I refer to making it at home would be "sandwich". And believe me Kitty, my sandwiches are anything but junk, I use brown bread, fresh vegetables. EDIT: @ Kitty: Funny, I haven't been on a subway in well over 10 years, I don't think they have any in this country. Although Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, and possibly Bandung (the four biggest cities) need them badly (especially Jakarta).

@ two - now if I'm wrong, don't throw rocks but you are aware I meant Subway Sandwich shops, not underground trains, right? Maybe it was just how you worded the sentence... sorry if I'm wrong! Oh and ye a burger and a sandwich are two difference things ^^ I thought about it, there is one FF that i eat at home - pizza! Selfmade pizza rules actually, somehow I didn't think of it before, it seems so un-fast food-ish

The funny thing is pizza shouldn't remotely be fast food! Good pizza heavily depends on the crust and the dough should sit overnight in the refrigerator to develop flavour.

That is true - but then it is quickly made and very variable - indeed a good basis for fast preparation of a customized product.

Oh and ye a burger and a sandwich are two difference things \ OH... I thought you meant "underground trains." So sorry, I've never been to a Subway Sandwich shop! ;D My bad, total misunderstanding... Yes, Sandwich and Burger are very different. EDIT: Don't worry, I haven't thrown rocks at anybody out of anger in over 10 years. Yes indeed, otherwise Pizza Hut wouldn't be able to operate so well...

Pizza Hut is gross! Their pizzas are way too thick and the prices are just ridiculous.. Precisely my opinion. What I mean by "operate so well", is that they are successful. Well, not successful in terms of improving public health, but successful financially.
