...are processed just like verifiable facts. According to a recent study, there's no difference between the way the brain handles faith-based beliefs and verifiable facts...apparently we 'know' either way. What I take away from this is that the faith versus reason dichotomy isn't as clear cut as it seemed, at least from the point of how we think.

What I take from that is 'Haven't I said that?' Nice to hear someone's done a study on it, though If they care to do the same for political beliefs, they'll find the same thing...

Not that weird, considering that all we've got in our heads is beliefs.

ahh, yes, Norfolk?? Oops, sorry. Uhh, what's this about, then? I don't really know what's going on in our brains... I just know that cliches are completely true, or they wouldn't be cliches today, to some extent.

Not that weird, considering that all we've got in our heads is beliefs. Übereil You're an atheist right Ube? Didn't you ever suspect that there was something lacking, or extra, or at least different, going in the minds of people who have spiritual experiences and accept mystical magical things that don't seem to exist in the real world? What I take from that is 'Haven't I said that?' Nice to hear someone's done a study on it, though Yeah, well, you say a lot of things, in case you haven't noticed. Hard to keep track.

Ube, you'd better head to the nearest church and pray LIKE HELL! GOD'S CALLING YOU! JK, actually, it's far more likely to be your Christian Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Great Grandparents trying to get through to you from "the other side..." ;D

nope, not a friend of Cat. You... you mean she doesn't know everyone in Norfolk? You're an atheist right Ube? [/url] Agnostic, but close enough. Didn't you ever suspect that there was something lacking, or extra, or at least different, going in the minds of people who have spiritual experiences and accept mystical magical things that don't seem to exist in the real world? The process on getting to the knowledge differ, yes. But the knowledge itself? I don't think so. Übereil

Elliot Kane has a strange attracting power entwined with this, his forum. ;D People are drawn to it somehow, I'm almost certain it has something to do with Galadriel... Beware of the Humanology forum, it tends to get a little ugly from time to time... I'd suggest for a first-time Chaos Cascade browser to start out by reading through the General Section, especially checking out the threads that welcomed them...

What I take from that is 'Haven't I said that?' Nice to hear someone's done a study on it, though It bothers me when people have this response to studies! Not picking on you, Elliot, I promise. Obviously lots of people have thought that this might possibly be the case or there would be no study! Sorry, we're going over these sorts of studies and the responses to them in my psychology course quite frequently. I could scream hindsight bias. I find it quite unnerving and fascinating to think about.

You could hardly claim hindsight bias in my case though, Zee, as I've said it at length BEFORE this study was made

Wait a minute. I call shenanigans. Didn't you go and on at length about how different the religious and secular mindsets are? About how they are so fundamentally different that someone coming from either side was hopelessly doomed to misunderstanding (barring a reading of one of your enlightened articles) because the thought processes in the other person's head were so different?
Your premise:
BAM!
