My external hard drive came unplugged while running and is no longer recognized on my computer. Software reports "0.0kb of 0.0kb free." Goodbye all music, movies, pictures and games. I think I'll just throw my computer in a lake, abandon all technology, and go live with the Amish. If I wasn't so tired after such a long day I would put my fist through a wall.

Did you try:
- removing the hdd and attaching it to a computer? (The hdd casing could be spoilt.)
- did you also try downloading Linux livecd like Ubuntu or Linux mint and seeing if Linux will recognise your data?
