I don't. Not really. The special effects: yay! But I can just tell it's going to be a modernized action film that happens to take place in Greek mythology, not an actual quest adventure film like the original one was. And to quote some guy from the Youtube discussion:
"why does Perseus look like a doltish jarhead? The original actor who played Perseus may have been just as stupid, but at least he looked like a Greek Hero."
He looks like a doltish jarhead because he's the same guy from Avatar, where he played a doltish jarhead.

I haven't see the original, so that didn't even occur to me, but yeah, I can understand. The only way they can make this an adventure film if its like 3(+) hours long or something. Hopefully they'll preserve that, cuz we need us some good adventure films. Killerzzz

I like that they'll probably put a new spin on it, personally. After all, would there be any point whatsoever in just remaking the old one? I'll take a really good film based on the legend, be it modern or not. Of course, the question now is whether it's going to be good or not...

I have no urge to see this, nothing has told me that this won't be a shameless rip-off of 300 with greek myths...

From what I have seen it will be what the first one could have been had the special effects of the time not sucked. Actually, the effects in the movie weren't even good for that time, consider that the Star Wars movies came out at the same time...sheesh. SPS it is not (from the previews) stylistically similar to 300. And speaking of appearances, the guy in the first movie looked nothing like a Greek hero. He was a blond haired whiny pip-squeak. I've been to Greece I can tell you that Greeks are NOT BLOND. And besides, the Greeks were the first to require their soldiers to have short hair, mainly so that the enemy couldnt hold you by it while they decapitated you. So yeah, just because it doesn't look like the first one doesn't make it worse.

It could be the fault of the trailer, for presenting the film as another dumb, slick action movie that appeals to the widest range of idiots possible. Not calling anyone here an idiot, by the way. I just have a lot of built up hatred for all the mind-numbing movies that come out. They are all the same, all remakes or sequels, bland, boring fluff that means nothing. It's the same with books and music as well, but this is balanced by a wide range of really good literature and music that is still written. Where are all the good movies? Independent films, foreign films, direct to video stuff that was too "artsy" or "different" or "weird" to be another Hollywood summer blockbuster (=lackluster). It's hard to find good film, and it's not like I'm a film critic or snob, either. Anyway, about the movie, Nero are you sure we're thinking of the same original Perseus from Clash of the Titans? Blonde pipsqueak he is not. Anyway, I'm not arguing that it should be exactly like the original. (If anything I'd argue for filmmakers to come up with their own ideas instead of remaking a movie from the 80's.) I just thought Sam Worthington sucked in Avatar and I don't want to see him again.

I have. And I shall review it! Summary: Cool but disappointing, 7/10 To give an idea: 8=Good 7=Okay 6=Meh (Watchable) Looking over the Rottentomatoes reviews, I can agree with their summary: amazing special effects and action, but hardly-to-no story- or character-development. I won't say what some of them are saying, that there "is no story" because that's not true; it's just that they don't use the story or develop it as much as they could have. Honestly, the movie should have been an hour longer (if they were to do that hour right) and it could have even been a trilogy if they really wanted to stretch it out. Hell, the story devides into three neat sections. But to do that they would have to do what they failed to do: develop characters and plot. There was pleanty of room to flesh it out, but they didn't. My biggest problem, the thing that bothered me the most in this movie (as it has in others) is that at one point you see characters not being familiar with eachother, and zoom! flash! a couple of battles later and an understood several days of travel (done in a few seconds) later, they're best buds and know eachother well. Know why that's a problem? Because WE don't get to know them well, or their development together. That part is completely missing. So, when a character might get injured or die or something (I won't say who or what ), to be blunt we hardly give a sh!t. And when we see another character saying NOOOOO, we think "Why? A second a go you weren't on good terms with the guy- OH YEAH, I FORGOT YOU FF'D PAST THAT PART." Now I'm referring to the encounters seen in the commercial. I'll put it in a spoiler box in case you haven't seen the commercial and want the battles to be a surprise. The fight with the scary looking guy was cool, but could have been longer. Same for with the giant scorpions. Okay, same could be said for ALL the battles. I'll say that again ouside the spoiler box. The Medusa battle was the best, and was actually very cool (though still hurried). And finally, the Kraken was pretty much what Venom was for Spider-Man 3: badass but short-lived. To sum up what I said in there, everything was too hurried, including all the battles, and especially the final battle. So, the big question: Should You Watch It? If you like action movies, then yeah, you probably should. It was pretty damn cool. If you like epic movies, then maybe. Because of the hurry, it didn't have the feel of an epic. I pray they release a version with an hour of deleted scenes or something. If you need your movies to have story and character development, then NO! ;D This is an action flick, expect no more. Oh, and something else that seems to be an issue for some: Sam Worthington. I'll start by saying that I did not hate his acting in T4 and Avatar as some do, though I certainly didn't find it anything special. But I'll also say that he seems to have done a bit better in this one. Not sure, but I think so. I'll let you guys be the judge of that. Hope this helps! Killerzzz

Thanks Z, appreciate the info, I agree with you, despite all the hate that Worthington has gotten he didn't really bother me in his other movies...when you compare him with a guy like Channing Tatum he comes off brilliant.
I actually liked him in avatar, he was the only character that really developed as everyone else was either RAR I LIKE TO DESTROYS YOUS! or YAY LOOKS AT THE PRETTY FLOWERZ!
