Hmmm... bad for the citizens, good for power-hungry seekers.

They already pretty much buy Presidents into office with the way campaign funding works, so I guess this is just another step along the same route. Still a very sad day for Americans, though

They could already do this. Now the spending is simply unlimited. All politics are already bought out by lobbyists anyways.

Well, it's the highest court in the land, so no appealing. And future cases with the same issue will be controlled by this case. The best immediate hope is legislation that bans corporate spending or at least limits it. The problem is, it will be tricky avoiding a constitutional issue - corporate spending is now protected by the 1st amendment. The best future hope is to have a more liberal Supreme Court someday that can simply say, 'overturned.' This is the case, if anyone's interested: United Citizens v. Federal Election Commission

The best you can really hope for is that congress will put in a blanket legislation that limits the amount of money any 1 organisation/person can donate - as a protection to democracy and liberty

Federal Election CommissionUpon reading that EXTREMELY long and repetative article... It looks like the court ruled correctly on the freedom of speech issue IAW the 1st amendment...however, I think that DPR has a valid way to get around it. The Legislative branch..ie...congress...makes the laws and could easily put a limit on contributions...as well they should...and that may fix the problem...(until they find a way to circumvent it.. ;D)

But then, the legislative branch will be on the receiving end of any campaign contributions (OK, in the case of the USA, safe for the presidential campaign) - and with only two relevant parties in the run, I have me doubts about them self-restricting/limiting the cake to distribute...

Quite the massive display of DEATH POWER. What's wrong though is that those people will still buy what the REPUBLICANS SELL them. So their WEAPONS of DEATH will aim at reason and not the real ENEMY , BY PARTISAN CORRUPTION against we the SERF PEOPLE.

I had a mixed reaction to that video. When they started showing the kids how to use the weapons, I noticed that the adult supervision was very strong. I saw that this is a good was to educate the kids and perhaps reduce gun deaths in future. However, when it came to the adults learning to use the guns, I saw it as an enabler, perhaps encouraging them to purchase a gun for home protection, now that they know they're capable of using them.

AAAHHHHH...Politics finally rears its head...does that mean that you are a Democrat KT? And just where did you see the "Republican" banners in that video...I don't have a clue what (or if) they belong to any party I just thought they were having a nice Saturday picnic... ;D But then....might just be my "serf" mentality... ;D

Though really , when I see "rednecks" I think republicans. Then again , I do not subscribe to ideas of forced perspectives , black white left right etc , a bird with one wing will not fly.

I'm split here - for one it may reduce ACCIDENTAL gun deaths in a society where guns are (too) easy to get a hold of; - on the other hand, it may reduce the inhibition threshold for using guns in the first instance.

So long as they use those guns on appropriate non-living targets, I have no problem with that.
