Well, then appropriate should be NOT a picture/silhouette of a human, nor a car...
And teenagers working with heavy machine guns/automatic weapons do frighten me...
I still remember my first time shooting a weapon - being a German it may not be surprising that it was during my Army time. I never had any qualms about weapons before (and ultimately I qualified expert with rifle (both M16 ang G3) and Pistol (again both Bundeswehr and US Army standard weapons)).
But that first time was an eye opener - those things were heavier than I had thought, and their repercussions made it not easy to control. Somehow the picture in my mind had been quite different (no wonder when it comes from the crack shots in any Spaghetti Western...).
The real horror was later, when I was drill sergeant on the shooting range with recruits.
Yes - if and when you allow possession of weapons (which may be left debateable), then education and training should be made mandatory - and I mean continuous such, not once and forget.
In our safety trainings we were shown the effects of explosives and gun fire (forget taking cover behind a car door!), DRASTICALLY! It's been over 30 years since, but it stuck. The respect you learn early is healthy - to yourself and others.

Unfortunately, I'm not seeing this as any new news. It's something Grandpa Cohick has been babbling about for years and we've all just traded that whole "He's a cynical, senile ol man, isn't he?"
Go figure.
