This happened last week, but it was right before April 1st, so I wanted to make sure you understood that this really happened.
So, I'm just walking around one day, when a strange old man passes me. He is wearing very brightly colored clothes (I'm pretty sure a yellow vest, and maybe bright orange somethingelse, etc) and shiney silver sunglasses. He also has crazy hair, like hobo hair.
As he passes me, he says, not looking at me, "Kind of off track, eh Peee-eeer?" (which is a not uncommon way to massacre the pronounciation of my name). I responded with a little smile, as if to say "yeah, i know what you mean, man". The kind of smile you give a passing peer if they said something like "boy, that meeting was brutal".
"Kind of off track, eh Peee-eeer?" The thing is, I I'm 99% sure I don't know this guy. I looked around to see if he could have been talking to somebody else, cuz he didn't even look at me, but I didn't see anyone he could have been talking to. So I began thinking. Distant relative? Old professor? Family friend? I couldn't think of one of those people who would be where I was walking that day. Nor could I place this man in one of those contexts. Nor could I think of ANY of those people, or anyone at all who knows me well enough to address me by name, who could not properly pronounce my name!
Its like it was one of those movie moments when the person's life actually is off track, and a random passer-by, usually a homeless person, says something wise to them, and they go "wha? did you say something?" and the hobo/passer-by keeps walking.
Anyhow, cool/weird experience.
Hmmm... things have been off-track for me lately...
