Personally, I think the vote should be taken away from anyone and everyone who auto-votes, whatever party they auto-vote for. But then, I think Democracy is a useless mess that should be swept away, anyway. And be replaced with what? Übereil

He wants an Autocracy Ubereil, one person in charge for all intensive purposes.

Exactly so, Terror. It's guaranteeing you get a good one every time that's still giving me problems...

And Elliot, you can never make that guarantee, which is why its a pipe dream. Even those raised specifically for such a role, will inevitably fall to temptation, because they are human.

The problem with every form of govt so far in fact, Terror, yes. It's all people, and people are corruptible.
It's the removal mechanism for the bad ones that might be the way to go...

There already is a mechanism, its called Revolution, followed by a Republic as having one leader is stupid given that there are too many roles to be undertaken by one man or woman.
I may despise Democracy, but I recognize its much better than an Autocracy (especially one that seems almost Hitleresque in its leadership styles)
Authoritarians often abuse their people, badly. It is not my love of democracy or freedom that make me say that having an autocracy is stupid, but my realization that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. And that is a problem for your idea there Elliot, even a "Good" leader would still be corrupt.
How many men have dragged their people to hell on good intentions which become rife with their own personal corruption and inadequacies? The system you would see imposed would be such a system.

And Democracy isn't, Terror? At best, it enshrines mediocrity, punishes genuine thought and innovation and leads people and nations into stagnation. None of those are good things.
As with all things, it may start out well and with the best of intentions, but look at how it's developed over time. Not only into a pseudo-religion that insists on the destruction of all 'heretical' forms of govt but into an over-bureaucratic mess that stifles the nations that use it.
Better than Autocracy? Hardly! At least with Autocracy a new broom brings the chance of genuine change rather than just more of the same under a different label.

Hardly! At least with Autocracy a new broom brings the chance of genuine change rather than just more of the same under a different label. The Roman Emperors eventually became mediocre , even after they dropped the bloodline succession. In fact, following the Emperor nearly became a religion, to be imposed on others. The faults you place on Democracy are not merely the faults of democracy, but the faults of a stagnating civilization, which would come about regardless of the form of government that said civilization currently has. Many Kings, Emperors, and leaders, democratic and autocratic, have suffered the same fates. The mediocrity does not come from democracy, but from the decadent people, which happens in ANY system. - The guy at the end is Elliot And lets not forget this happy fellow of course!

That much is definitely true.
But then tyranny comes from harsh times rather than any system as such, too.
They're all flawed because they all involve people. Depressing, really...
