I'm getting cable TV for the 1st time. Which is best--TIVO, Digital Cable or the VCR? Digital Cable will cost me $12 per month more than the standard cable. TIVO is a 1 time investment of $100 or $200 if I understand it properly, and I already have a VCR. Which is easiest to use, least likely to become obsolete, and anything else I might need to know?
I don't have HDTV and that is not important to me.
edit: hmm--looks like there is a monthly fee for the TIVO too.

A VCR IS obsolete! So don't get one!
Digital Cable is nice, but find out what kinds of programming will be shown on the extra channels before you get it. If it's nothing you want to watch, then you'll just be throwing money away. Though I think you can get things like NBA TV with digital.
TIVOs, or a DVR is nice because they're easy ways to record things on tv when you can't watch them. And they store the shows on the units themselves, so no other equipment is needed.
