Hehe, thanks for the Automne picture dedicating. The face in The Prisoneer reminds me of someone, but I can't hit the nail on who... His eyes have a little something of those of the prehistoric men though. ;D Darklands is cool; and I like the colors too. Notice, it's quite the same palette as Protos Revisited by Philip Straub that I just posted. The Frontier is cool too for his colors, they're very rich. I like Claire-Vallée too, though I find it would be better with deeper colors as well. Any idea what it is, in the sky? Remains of the Past and The Promise seem a bit more redundant and not as good as the rest to me, though.

Not sure Fille. I haven't been able to find anything on it specifically. I did find this where he is talking about the big floating monoliths in some other paintings though.
Well, rock represents symbolicly the ultimate form of matter. And the light inside the rock represents the Spirit, source of Life, unseen to the human eye, hidden in matter. The floating stones represent the manifestations of Spirit, guiding us, and protecting us. In parallele with this, some of these paintings were done for a personal movie project that I prepared for a few years and just presented to my agent. It might never go anywhere, but who knows... quote from Christopher Vacher

I did a personal search for the painting itself and still found no information on it. I did find out that there is a place in Canda by the same name though. Maybe you could go visit and see if the thing is there and examine it up close. ;D
What does it look like to you?

I'm not really impressed with the background on this one, but I do like the part at the bottom. The lights are cool and I like the way the trees seem to be trying to hide it. Troll FellCover for the book "Troll Fell" by Katherine Langrish (Harper Collins)

The ones with the title "Visual development art for Treasure Planet" are paintings he worked on for the movie for Disney. Visual development art for Treasure PlanetA little insight. These were comments Christopher made to some people who had commented about his work. "Although I have to tell you that most of the credits for the color directions in the movie came from my two friends (and bosses) Ian Gooding (Associate Art director) and Dan Cooper (Head of backgrounds), both awsome painters."
"My job at Disney was (I quit the company at the end of February 2002) both painting backgrounds and visual development. On Treasure Planet, I painted only on computer, using both 2D and 3D programs. If you want to get into this business and get the best position as an artist, you'll have to develop skills both in traditional media (drawing, painting) and digital media (2D and 3D). Animation artists who develop these skills are the ones who are going to be the most sought after in the near future (even now)."

Some more good pieces here, Shan and Kylia. Mistress of the Wind is probably my favorite of these. Untouched Gardens, Highland Warriors, and Spring are also rather nice. I like Dragonlance as well, though that may be because that was the series that got me reading fantasy. That said, I really like all of them. Note regarding the Dragonlance piece. That one looks like it depicts the Dragonlance Legends trilogy (Time of the Twins, War of the Twins, and Test of the Twins), written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. The guy in the black robes carrying the staff is the archmage Raistlin Majere, my favorite character in all of Dragonlance. It's a really great series and well worth looking into.

mobbie, i am glad you like the paintings. They are quite different from Adele's, but I love all kinds of artwork and what this guy does really appeals to me. I love his great big floating monoliths. He does does great things with colors too. I love love to have the talent of any of these guys.
