This scheme is ugly. Less than the SeaSick one of yesterday, but only slightly. I did play to make new stars to replace the snowflakes, and there are lots of choices: The "new" button was OK for me before. The colors of this one clash.

i like the new colour scheme. if only the background pic complements it colour-wise, would be great. @ Fille -> orange, red, blue look good. green, yellow & white with shadow/outline look good too.

So eh...sorry for that previous post of mine ;D I like the new "New" buttons. They are very clear and that's what they are supposed to be. I quickly want to know which thread has new posts and I'm not interested in the fancy-ness of the button. The rest of the forum being fance is more important though.

And would have been if Ube hadn't voided the contest, Luci. Be the the contest 'void' as it may (because of the absence of one judge/contributor?), this does not void the awesomeness of the many entries, says I. Killerzzz

That is very true, Kaz You all performed wonders. Left me with a very nasty little dilemma that I'm still not sure I found (Nor could find) a good solution to. Changing the rules of the contest after it was over sets a nasty precedent I don't want to set, in case of future contests of any kind. But NOT changing them wasn't really fair to you (the winner) and seems to devalue the efforts of you and the other entrants. It's a lose-lose to me. Whatever I decided was bad and even which was 'least worst' is open to question. If I can't set rules and abide by them, how in heck could any of you trust me to run any kind of contest in future? Yet to have no winner was also bad after everyone's really hard work... Point was, one of the rules as set was that Peter and Ube HAD to take part as the whole thing was their fault doing in the first place. Without them, there was no contest and that was set as a rule. Hence, Ube's non-participation voided the contest. You see my dilemma, I'm sure...

Thing is (and you can avoid my PM now if you'd like), I don't believe anyone will really feel your rules are devalued for something so extremely minimal.
An odd rule even at that, that if one of the two didn't take part (but everything still went smooth as butter) the whole thing falls to shambles.
So, nobody has to give me a ribbon, or a candy, or a pat on the back for the contest. Contest = prize.
Watching the contest = inspiration. Use that inspiration.

The very fact that everyone, then and now, has gone "Wha? Ube didn't participate and that's why you won't adopt a decent looking scheme?" tells you right there that you've lost a LOT more respect, trust, and credibility for stubbornly sticking to that decision rather than honoring a winner that the rest of the forum has chosen. IMO you don't want to admit that YOU just don't want to adopt any of those schemes, and would instead rather experiment with various combinations of vomit and lilac shades.

Yes, well. You're entitled to your opinions...

IMO you just didn't like any of them and would rather experiment with the aforementioned vomit shades, rather than stick to what you said originally.
It's cool, you're just really annoying everybody here and losing a lot of respect and trust.

Actually EK I wouldn't be surprised if you actually believed that stuff about not changing rules (as if anybody took it seriously that Ube would have to participate [which he did, just "too late"] or the whole contest was void); but the fact remains that you were just plain incorrect, if forum harmony and boardie satisfaction are your goals, you've made the opposite choice.

If there's one thing you would notice if you looked through a lot of the old threads on this forum, it's that I may not always make the right call, but I am always truthful in telling the boardies my reasons for any decisions I make.
You may or may not agree with me - and plenty of people have not. You may think I'm mad or a fool - and you're perfectly entitled to do so. But I have always explained my decisions as best I can, truthfully.
Any significant check of this forum will verify that.
If I did not believe it to be true, I would not say it.

Which is why I said I wouldn't be surprised...
The 'new' button reminds of the old NES logo...I like it just fine. Don't you think some other color besides gold could help break up the monotony though?
Oh yeah, nice stars Fille. I like the bottom left one.

Elliot, you kind of have a habit of just ignoring things you don't like and doing whatever you want, at least when it comes to these forums.
There is an easy way to fix this! Why not start a new version of the contest? Super easy! Elliot, if you say no then you are an ass. Sorry.

What the hell? Why does a stupid forum background colour thing have to become an Elliot-bashing thing? Oh no, someone is expermimenting with colours and the only way to voice my opinion on whatever goes around it is by using the words "vomit" and "ass", boohoo!

It looks better now. It was a sickly green yesterday. Stating that a color looks disgusting is not bashing EK, who I am sure has a little more fortitude than to be upset by me not liking the colors. If I didn't say anything, how would one know if it was a good change?
