Oi Vey! I didn't mean that Phil was macho and insensitive. I was just pointing out that I'm glad not all men are like the stereotype that Phil posted. I know that Phil is quite a sensative guy, so I apologize Phil, if I hurt your feelings.
And to try to save this thread from spiraling off topic too much, I had a Bed & Bath Bridal shower on Friday night. Quite a lot of fun. Will's mom organized it all - had a lot of cute games, though I could have lived without pin-the-tail on the bunny. Mostly because they took a picture of my face and put it over the bunny's face. (For those who don't know, Will's nickname for me is Bunny. Be's my Teddy Bear. Now y'all can groan and make fun of it.)
I got lots of towels! geez! But also a really cute rubber ducky bathroom set (toothbrush holder, soap dispenser, cup and soap dish), a very nice photo album, a laundry basket, a wicker basket, two comforters (one is clouds!), a few sets of sheets, some money and a few gift cards, two deocrative pillows with one side being a fantasy castle and the other side a unicorn in a glade (which I'll post pictures of as soon as I can), a set of PJs and a very strange glow pillow that my best friend gave as a sor of joke gift. And I'm happy that most things came in blue, or white. Blue is our favorite color. ^_^
Now I gotta write a bunch of thank you's.
Oh, and one of Will's relatives who lives in Texas decided to gives us a shower gift - a coffee pot. Neither of us drinks coffee, but we can use it for guests.

Sounds like you had a great shower Sarah and alot of fun. Was Will invited? Don't you just love it when you get gifts that you can really use? One of the best showers we had was given for the both of us. Shan

Will was not invited. It was a girls only event. Though I think it would have been fine if he and other guys had been there - they'd just have been bored out of their minds.
As it is, the menfolk went to have Round Table pizza and then to a movie. They had a lot more fun doing that, I'm sure.
janggut - it's basically a way of squeezing more gifts out of people you know. But you do it in such a way that they have fun. There were lots of games and prizes to be won that were actually useful. And lots of food, of course.
If I'm hearing correctly, my female friends want to throw me a lingerie party (which Will wants to go to, but definitely won't be allowed). That one will be smaller with just close friends.
Then there's the bachelorette party, but I don't believe I get gifts there. That's just to celebrate my last days as a "single" girl. Not that I've been single for over 3 years! But I'm supposed to get drunk and party. My best friend and sister want to have it the night before the wedding, as tradition states, but I do not want to be hung-over or exhausted on my wedding day. Hopefully they'll do a big party a couple of nights before and then just hang out with me for support the night before.

"....and then just hang out with me for support the night before." silva support? is marriage such a torturous thing? ;D nahh... just joking. i guess lifetime commitment is a very very big thing so it's not to be taken lightly.

I probably would prefer a quiet marriage, not really involving a lot of my friends. Too many things would probably go wrong if I did, because I don't like crowds. I get moody.
Though if it all goes well I'm sure it can be fun.

You mean it's not a tradition for friends to get together and give showers for the bride or bride and groom where you live, Jags? Maybe Sarah and I need to let the girls over there know what they are missing out on. Showers are a big tradition around here. They are tons of fun and you get all kinds of great gifts. Saves you from having to go out and buy a bunch of stuff that you need. Plus you also get lots of great stuff that you would like to have but would never buy at first. Shan

Maybe when you do find the right girl and the two of you decide to get married, you should think about eloping if you don't like crowds. Shan
