Wine is alcohol which is unhealthy. If you drink it in the right amounts it's acually healthy. It's good for your blood presure IIRC. Wine is healthy for a party ;D And I can assure you, a party we had. Except for one dumbass who didn't know his drinkin limits, became sick and had to be brought home. But that didn't ruin the fun. The fact that Café d'Anvers is the best club in Antwerp was proven once again

A power failur at my house blew up my modem in smoke (after a mere 10 years ) - which is why I was ooi for a few days. Now back with brand new WLAN modem - the configuration of which beats programming of video recorders... - but, as obvious, it seems to work now. YEAH! I'M BACK!

good for u & good 2 have wireless LAN, GLance. if u route it via another modem, it gets even more complicated cos it means that u have 2 configure the router to the modem then WiFi adaptor to the router. makes dealing with WinMe a child's play.

A slight misunderstanding - I have a modem that is (also) WLAN capable, but I'm wired - I'm a strong believer of firm (wired) connections.

Scary, scary. Victoria has just had what has been dubbed as our "worst natural disaster ever."
Melbourne suffered it's hottest recorded day ever, hitting 45.6°C (114.1°F) in the city on Saturday. It was even hotter outside of the city and we are also in our longest drought ever. The week before had four consecutive days above 43°C. The forests are completely dry. Unsurprisingly, the forests caught fire. It's just scary listening to the stories on the radio. The fires move so quickly. People prepare to defend their homes, only their hoses melt before they can be used effectively. People wonder whether to stay or leave, and then discover their back yard is on fire. People attempt to escape, but the smoke is so thick they end up crashing into a car that's travelling slightly slower. There are several reports of multi-car pile-ups that were probably several separate accidents caused by the one obstruction.
Now the forests aren't there any more, and neither are the towns nestled in them. Two tourist towns, Marysville and Narbathong have been completely wiped off the map. The current toll is 108 dead, at least 30 missing, and counting. They expect the toll from this disaster will exceed the two next worst disasters (both bushfires) combined.
Yesterday, we took a train to the city. I overhear a young man on his phone. When he ended the call, he told his girlfriend that one of his friends had died in the fires. You could see the stunned silence in his face. You knew that it hadn't hit him yet and wouldn't for several hours.
Where I live is completely urbanised and a wetlands area. Any fire that starts near us will be handled quickly and easily. Listening to the stories on the radio is just frightening. Best of luck to those out near the fires.

I'm glad you are OK, HEF. I hope our other Aussie boardies are, too.
Here's hoping the authorities get that under control soon!

Yeah, it looks to be bad... Drought, heat and fires on one side, flood on the other, yuck. Glad you're safe HEF.

I wish for all our Aussie friends and the other Aussies I know that they are all safe. May the fires stop soon, for the sake of the Land of Oz

That is already horrible news to read, I can't imagine how you have to live through it. Glad you're okay and I hope that disaster ends soon.

There's probably a couple more weeks before they put all of these fires out (not counting any new ones that start.) It's finally cooled down which is helping, but there's still no rain, and none forcast either. The Wilsons Promentory peninsula where Michelle and I went camping two weekends ago is being evacuated by sea.
750 homes destroyed, 5,000 homeless, 173 dead, fires moving over 100km/h, well over 2500km2 (965 miles2) of land is razed. It's insane. I've never heard of anything like this. The place we had out honeymoon is undoubtedly gone.
I've put $100 towards the appeal for the victims. It's not much but it will help someone.

At least, there seems to be a beautiful movement of solidarity... I read that some bloodbanks are full and even returning donors, which is quite something. I hope mother Nature will lend you a helping hand soon too...

Yeah, the blood banks had more than ten times the donors in a week than they normally have in a month. Donations exceed $44,000,000. Everyone is doing what they can to help those affected.

Makes me worried about the safety of blood donating in Australia. In Sweden (the best country in the whole wide world who does everything perfectly!!!) you will have to test yourself first, which takes at least one week, if not one month (not sure how long).
