Sandrine Gestin Sandrin Sandrine Gestin is a French female illustrator and painter gaining great distinction and demand for her work. She was born in November 1969, in Quimper, a city of strong Celtic tradition in Brittany France After studying graphic art at E.S.A.G of Penninghen in Paris, she decided to work as an illustrator and later also as a painter and has been a professional artist since 1993. She has illustrated several book covers, and her creative images have been used for role playing games, magazines, trading cards, and web sites. She has written and illustrated two books for children books with 23 full pages of her art, "La Cité aux 100 Mystères" and "La Vallée aux 100 Prodiges" and illustrated two other books in the same collection: "The Island of the 100 Skeletons" and "La Colline aux 100 Fées". Her preferred technique used to be watercolors, however, she’s been painting with oil on canvas for some years now, a technique which she enjoys immensely. This has created a demand for her beautiful work to be shown in major painting exhibitions. Currently, she shares her time between these exhibitions and publishing her work, as well as various other projects. If you would like to visit her website, click on the link below.

Since all of the images are not the same size, I am going to start out with the larger one. I would have made the others larges, but resizing them caused alot of distortion because the resolution was so low. The larger ones, I thank Steve for because he was the one who found the site where I got the larger pictures. Also just for that I am going to start the pictures with two that he really liked, because they reminded him of the Ice Queen that one day he may write into one of his stories. I had to work really hard to get these large pictures, but I did it just for you. ;D Thanks Steve for the help. I also have lots of her pictures that I have uploaded to show, so if you like her work be sure to check for updates to this thread. La reine des Elfes

And this is the second one that reminded Steve of the Ice Queen. Both pictures are very well done and are really cool. La Clef

OK, I'm going to throw a small one in here, because I love this one. He is awesome. I wish I could have found a larger version of him, but so far no luck. Griffon

Another one of my favorites. I love the little faery sitting on her shoulder. She's a cutie. As you can tell by the dress, the hair and the little faery, Sandrine puts alot of detail work into her paintings. La Reine des FeesOn another site, I found something that she said about this painting. "La Reine des Fées" was painted in 2001 (oil on canvas), for the cover of a book named " Il était une fée".
I spent a lot of time on this painting... Especially the dress and its embroideries... The little elf was difficult too, because of the wings... I like this painting very much because of its mystery and the danger it evokes.

Thanks Misty. I'm glad you like them. And yes her profile work is great. Do you draw or paint? And I agree with you about the little faery. She does look like she could get into alot of mischief.

Ah, Sandrine Gestin. I'm really glad you stumbled onto her, Shan. And thanks for posting the first two. They really are great pieces. Though I love the gryphon and the Faerie Queen too.

The colors are not as bold in this one, but I like it. The tree is great. The picture holds an air of mystery to it. Le Marais

GaladrielThe little story is that I was painting her face when I heard on the radio that a plane had collapsed on the two towers of the world trade center ... For me , finishing this painting was as if I bring a little touch of hope in the world at this moment.

*looks up at Gestin's photo* You were saying something, Shan? ;D Anyway, I pretty much like all of the artwork I've seen so far in this thread. Galadriel is the most striking to me, but the angel is also nice. I somehow have the feeling Kylia might like Galadriel. Just a hunch, mind. ;D

And I got another one. I found two of this little guy and the colors were so different that I thought I would post both. It is amazing how the colors of pictures are different on different sites. Le Feuillu
