Menomena - I am the Fun Blame Monster, Friend and Foe and Wet and Rusting EP. It's very interesting to hear the directions they've taken. Fun Blame Monster was rather "live"-like and experimental while Friend and Foe was much more matured and dealt with Christianity faith(issues and possible loss of it?).

Nothing ventured, Kitty... If it might be good enough, give it a try. You may surprise yourself

Bob Marley's "I shot the sheriff". Aha! It's little wonder why the title sounded so familiar. I'd heard a cover version by Warren G many years ago. Same for "No woman, no cry". Now it's some stuff by James Brown.

Dolly Parton! A song called Jolene, and it's acually quite good. The reason I discovered it was because The Sisters of Mercy made a cover of it in their early days (that's right, the Grandfathers of Goth covering Dolly Parton). Seriously, this is all true. ;D Übereil

I only know Jolene as a SoM song. Just goes to show Yeah, I figured it was a cover (IIRC I read it somewhere, and besides that it's not the usual SoM lyric style). But a Dolly Parton cover? When I googled "Jolene lyrics" to see who did the original I was quite suprized... ;D Wait... Sisters of Mercy? I remember having a cd of them but... it wasn't my kinda style, I'm afraid. The Sisters of Mercy, yes. ;D And the first time I heard them the only thing that struck me was how different their sound was. Drum machine, robotic sound landscapes and a singer who didn't sound like anyone I'd ever heard before. They're special. Not eveyone's favorite kind of special though. Übereil

To me, it was like I'd already heard stuff like that before. Given that now electronic is so popular and there're tons of groups who sound like that, I'm not surprised at my reaction. I should try the cd again: "Vision thing".
