279 out. Check NarutoFan.com's media downloads. Good news, it's a high quality raw (because it's been cleaned by JojoHot before being translated into Chinese.) Also here is the link to the translation: forums.narutofan.com/showthread.php?t=61964279 comments: Kishimoto surprised me again, not by bringing Gaara back to life (I knew all along he would) but by how he referred back to these thoughts Naruto had about himself and his group of friends compared to Gaara's, and made something positive out of it. I had thought that if Kishimoto used that again, I would really get frustrated, but not so. I'm glad Kishimoto used it again in this matter. The plot is coming full circle.
A very, very touching chapter. I give it 10 out of 10 stars! :thumbs
Chiyo's words were also very touching and emotional as well. It's pretty funny how just about everybody that Naruto comes across decides in the end that Naruto would make a good Hokage.
The only thing that bothers me is how Chiyo seems an afterthought there at the end... but I suppose the Kazekage returning back to life is more important to the pride and morale of the Sand Villagers than an old has-been.
Hmm, but Kishimoto did make Naruto seem kind of tired and sad while at the same time happy to see Gaara back. A mixture of emotions, there. I guess there's that.
I wonder if Chiyo is actually still alive herself, thanks to Naruto's chakra. Hmmm. Well, Chiyo isn't just lying on the ground with her hands and feet out wide anyway, Sakura's supporting her, but who knows.
One thing that must be said: that double spread of all the Sand Villagers standing around Gaara is awesome. So many unique looking Villagers, even seen from a distance. I got that same feeling from looking at all of Sasori's 100 puppets in the air. Kishimoto is a master of design, you can really tell. I just wish we could see them all up close!
I wonder who is protecting the women and children back in Sunagakure though. Ebizou?
Anyway, you can consider this post my "10 comments," I'm feeling kind of tired at the moment and just decided to wing it this time. :wink

You really don't need to this time but okay if you like. I'll let you know.
I asked members of Shannaro when we would be seeing some cleaned chapters and they said they should get the ball rolling pretty soon.

A prediction for Chapter 280 ;D
I can just see it now:
Ebizou: "Are you dead sister?"
Chiyo: "...."
Everybody: "...."
Ebizou: "...."
Ebizou: "Chiyo?"
Chiyo: "Gyah-hahaha! Had you going there again, didn't I?"
Ebizou: "You [Censored]."

I have to agree with Phil on this one. This chapter truly deserves the 10 starts that he gave it. Kishimoto did an excellent job with it and totally redeemed himself with me after what I thought were two pretty blah chapters. Spoiler: I think the part that touched me the most was where Chiyo was trying to bring Gaara back to life and found out she didn't have enough chakra and Naruto says that she can use some of his. He then puts his hands on hers and together they bring Gaara back. I really liked the fact of Chiyo and Naruto working together to bring him back.
I guess I see Chiyo and Naruto gaining respect for each other. He begins to see her in a different light and she sees the nine-tails sealed in him as making it possible for him to change the future and become the greatest Hokage ever.
It was also very touching when she tells Naruto that he is the only person who knows Gaara's pain and that Gaara knows his pain and asks Naruto to help him. Chiyo really understood what the two could mean to each other.
I'm not big on flashbacks, but I have to give Kishimoto credit. This time they just seemed to fit. They seemed to add more feeling to the story and drew me even closer to the characters.
With all the people from the Sand showing up to try to help Gaara, maybe there is hope they have changed the way they feel about him.
But what about Chiyo? Is she dead? From the last scene, it didn't look like she was, at least not yet. Sakura was supporting her. Maybe, just maybe Naruto lending help with his chakra will save her.
Kakashi said "It brings a big risk with it... it's only appropriate." He didn't say she would die. Which leads me to think that there is a slight possibility that she might survive. Come on Kishimoto you left an opening. Take it and let her live. Shan

Shan... it's amazing just how this one chapter made up for all the flaws of the whole storyline to me. The flashbacks for example, the point of the story, etc. And what's more exciting to me right now is I'm ready and rarin' to go on the next story arc too now. I was a little apprehensive that if there had been a few more drawn-out chapters I'd start to lose some desire to read them, but luckily that didn't happen.
It's kind of humorous right now, but there were some people at NarutoForums who were against Gaara's coming back to life because they wanted more death in the story, that they felt that it would give the story more impact. I wasn't one of these people and I was a supporter of Gaara returning to life, because it would validate Naruto as a capable shinobi. This chapter, however, was so emotional that I haven't heard one single complaint about Gaara coming back to life. There's even been some people who admitted that their minds had been changed by this one chapter.
Good work, Kishimoto.

Sariachan wrote this poem a while ago:
Deep and obscure silence Where also the wind is silent, But neither hanging in emptiness I feel sensations of peace yet.
White, motionless space Where also the time waits, My many doubts have spread Will be found what I search?
Why I’m here… And above all, who am I?
Then a warm gentle gale Stirs the always still air… Invisible yet relentless wind, Why I feel so attached to it?
I’m not able to see myself In this void that we alone, I and the wind, can't fill… And only a shadow remains.
A shadow in the wind… Or the Shadow of the Wind?
Then I hear a distant cry Which I should remember ’Cause not so far a time, That very voice saved me…
The hopeful persistent tone Of who will never give up, And already surprised me once Saying he too has been alone.
Gaara…is he calling me like that? Am I an Asura who only loves himself?
But I can hear its yells no more Which were always there before, In the darkest and rearest side Of my once frailer mind.
Now I remember who I am Now I remember everything… Yet I didn’t know I could sleep, I would stay forever like this.
But what will be of them? I can’t leave them indeed!
Being needed by someone… At last being loved, Feelings I believed were Lies, are now sincere.
So I listen to the loud voice Which has come nearer, Until two arms hold me And nothing becomes pain.
Opening my eyes, keeping to fight, Under a glance so alike to mine…
I would have said “I was dreaming”, I would have said so many things But the wind’s sound was covering And only a rare smile replied to him.

Great poem. I wonder if that is how Gaara felt. Sounds good to me. I didn't know Sariachan wrote poetry too. She is one talented person. Be sure to tell her that I really liked it. Shan

Good work, Kishimoto.Phil -> I was beginning to feel the same way. In fact I was wondering if Kishimoto had just lost it and if he would ever be able to peak my interest again. Guess he showed me, didn't he?
Well, you know how I felt about Gaara coming back. All I can say is if anybody found anything to complain about with this chapter, they were just hunting something to complain about. This is one of the best chapters Kishimoto has done in my book.
Yeah, I'm back on his side and anxiously awaiting the next story, and if he will just find some way to save Chiyo I'll absolutely love him. ;D Shan

Hehe and I guess that's why it's hard for any Shonen manga to ever have a good character die. Just too many people would get upset.

Hehe and I guess that's why it's hard for any Shonen manga to ever have a good character die. Just too many people would get upset. Sounds reasonable to me. Gotta keep their readers happy or ............ I know some people really go for the idea of killing characters off. It just seems to make it more interesting to them. I have never been that way though. If I get caught up in a character and the writer kills them off then alot of times part of my interest will drop. I don't think I switch interest in characters very well. Keep them alive Shonen. I like it that way. Shan

280 was awesome. Here come my 10 comments, look out! 1. I loved Temari's rebuke and Kankurou and Naruto's faces when she said it!!! Hehe. ;D Sassy little girl, isn't she? "You wimps!" But she's right, Gaara is the Kazekage and has to shown respect. I admire that she's now protecting Gaara like that, even in any situation.
2. I think Kishimoto wanted to show just how important Gaara's well-being was to the pride of Sunagakure. They've had so many Kages that disappointed them. When Gaara came to life, likely the Suna nins got some hope out of that. It was very amusing to see that Gaara now had fangirls, they remind me of some girls at Narutofans >__>
3. Very funny how Naruto was reminded that he was a Genin all of a sudden, and then Kankurou trying to help him feel better. I wonder if Kankurou had just passed the Chuunin Exams himself.
4. Now for the sad part. Chiyo is dead. But at least she went out on her own terms, and hopefully starting something good in her passing. I'm glad that Naruto didn't realize she had sacrificed her life until Kankurou told him and we got to see all the emotion out of everybody at her death. Sakura seemed to take it really hard.
5. Kankurou's explanations about the puppetting life jutsu really makes the whole thing more sensible how Chiyo would know how to do something like that. Chiyo must kinda have been like a lab doctor, who was trying to figure out how to improve her puppets by giving them life... but in the end the only way to transfer life to the puppet was to sacrifice one's life. I wouldn't be surprised if that's how Chiyo learned to be a medicial nin, just as a byproduct, because she had to figure out how to heal in order to achieve a life jutsu. At least in the end it helped her do a good thing for her village.
6. Naruto had another flashback of what was said the chapter before - can't say I care for pages like that much - but I guess it's a good way to mourn a good character's passing as anything else. It must be especially emphatic when you realize somebody has just said their last words in this life to you and entrusted the future of the world to you.
7. Aww. Okay, so my prediction last week didn't come true and Chiyo didn't wake up and laughed and say that she fooled them all. Ebizou seemed to almost be expecting it to happen. In the end it made it even more sadder for me that my prediction didn't come true, because I'm sure that was what they were all wishing to happen.
8. I liked Temari's words to Naruto, and Naruto's return words. I was surprised Naruto mentioned Sandaime (the Third Hokage). I wonder where that came from. Well, I guess Sandaime made it pretty clear to everybody that he had all his hopes invested in the future of Konoha (the children) and Naruto felt like he was included. It was nice to see Gaara and Naruto stand up side by side - kinda surprising to see Naruto taller than Gaara too... well, anyway, you can sense a deep bond forming between a leader and one future to be leader (hopefully ;D ) right there.
9. And now for the shock: Deidara's alive! My prediction that I made right after chapter 278 actually came true! It was a bunshin! I'm never going to listen to the guys at Narutoforums again
10. I don't think Zetsu has ever seen Sasori's true body before. Interesting to see that reaction. And then, the new guy. Tobi. What is he all about? Somebody mentioned that he might be a jinchuuriki, but I doubt it, I think he's just somebody powerful that wants to become an Akatsuki SO that he can get the powers of a jinchuuriki. Well, another twist thrown into the story, it'll be interesting to see where this leads.
Overall it's the best chapter in the whole Part 2 storyline that I've read. I'm ready and raring to go on the next storyarc! __________________

Awesome, this chapter rocked. Watch out Phil is excited about this one and so am I. Spoiler -> This was part of the side text and I really liked the way Nihongaeri translated it. "Turn around and there he is, another person just like you. A friend who chases a dream, shows the path and shares your happiness." This is truly Naruto and Gaara. It also makes me think of friends that we have too.
I loved the way Temari stuck up for Gaara. She wasn't going to let anybody put him down and was going to make sure he got the respect that a Kazekage deserved.
It was really funny how Kishimoto added girls who thought Gaara was cute, cool, strong, and he's even the Kazekage. Hmmmm wonder if there will be a fight to see which one gets to protect him. Kinda sounded like it. ;D
Poor Naruto he is still just a genin. I really felt for him here. All his friends are at least chuunins and one of them is even a kazekage. Will his day ever come?
No, no, no, no, no fair. Kishimoto killed off Chiyo. This was so sad. I really couldn't believe he would actually do that. I still think he should have let Naruto giving some of his chakura help save her.
I found the story about Chiyo leading the research on how to develop a jutsu to bring puppets to life very interesting. The jutsu was forbidden and sealed because of what it involved, giving your own life to bring one to life. It had never been tested on a human, so I wonder if Chiyo was just hoping it would work or if somehow she knew it would work.
The one blah thing about this chapter was the flasback about what Chiyo said in the last chapter. It just kinda struck me as if Kishimoto was taking an easy way out (adding a filler) just to keep from adding more story to this chapter. Sure it probably added a little feeling, but hey it had just been said in the previous chapter.
Deidara alive, ok I can deal with that. Great call Phil. I'd rather have seen Chiyo live, but hey maybe there is still a great story to be told about Deidara down the road. I thought it was kinda funny how Kishimoto sends him off looking for his right hand and his ring. Yuck, anybody seen any spare body parts lying around.
Tobi, so we meet a new character who wants to become a member of the Akatsuki. Sound interesting. He looks a little funny, but hey Zetsu does too. Tobi a good boy, I have my doubts. Wonder what Tobi's story will be.
Great chapter over all Kishimoto. It was awesome. It totally rocked. And I agree Phil. It is "the best chapter in the whole Part 2 storyline that I've read. I'm ready and raring to go on the next storyarc!" Count me in. Shan

You've got alot more patience than Phil and I have. I can understand though about wanting to wait for cleaner scanlations. This last RAW was pretty bad. I couldn't wait though. ;D In fact Phil got hold of the RAW before any translations were available and I just had to look at it even though I had no idea what was being said. We'll miss you. Shan

We've been getting some really low quality RAWs lately, it's the first time I've encountered this many in a row myself. It's odd. But I don't blame you. I'll let you know when they're cleaned, though I have my doubts it'll be anytime soon unfortunately. Shan, I read your comments, looks like you had pretty much the same impressions I did of this chapter Can't wait until 281. Isn't it fun to get something on a weekly basis? ;D

& frustrating too, Phil. which is why i'm saving myself from heartaches here. i just can't stand it as i want to enjoy Naruto as much as possible without ruining it for myself by looking at substandard or rushed scanlations. it's like how some people are hooked to pirated videos which are so low quality yet somehow those things can attract people. not to say both of u are cheap or anything but that i have very low tolerance for low quality. yeah Jags being picky. ;D
