This was originally the "Naruto Club" thread, but we needed to split it into two other threads in order to keep it all better organized. This will now known as the Discussion thread for the latest chapters of Naruto released in Japan.

I hadn't read any comics since I was little, but Phil talked me into reading Naruto and I have to admit that I love this little guy. Phil, your idea about posting sounds good to me. At least it is worth a try so as not to spoil anything for anyone. I am glad you started this thread, because I've always got bunches of questions. So sign me up as a member. ;D Shan

Better start reading Jags or you get kicked out of the club. ;D Oh, and if Phil won't do it, I will. ;D Shan

Yeah, come on you guys, at least give him a try. You might like it. Hey, Phil, let's gang up on Tsel and see if we can't get him reading Naruto too. Honestly I was surprised at how good it is. I got hooked starting with the 3rd chapter. The first two were just ok, but starting with chapter 3 it really got tons better. Shan

For me the point where the Naruto series really took off was when their sensei, Kakashi, came into the picture. Chapter 3 was okay, still didn't really grab me, but Chapter 4-8 really got me hooked.
The Naruto series is one of these mangas that just continue to NOT disappoint you. It really is a very well-written and drawn comic, with tons of memorable characters.

Well you should know better Phil. You should have signed me up automatically! ^_~
I got the new SJ yesterday (but I still haven't read Shojo Beat that I got last week). However, I hope to relax a bit today and read SJ. So I should have some more comments, but I'll make sure to make my comments white with a chapter number in black first so people know what it's about.
If I ever have free time (LOL) I'll sit down and reread Naruto. My memory needs refreshing.
I do have a general question - who is everyone's favorite character so far and post a why if you feel like it.

Hehe, I was wondering when you would speak up, Sarah! Well you're added now... ;D You just had to post at least once in this thread. My favorite character is Kakashi with my close second, I think, a tie between Naruto and Shikamaru. I love Kakashi because of his carefree attitude despite being one of the best shinobi in town, and his fights are always these of the intellectual variety. But he's not perfect - he can still be taken off guard too (Naruto keeps proving it ) and it's always funny. More than all that, though, because he always tries to protect all the kids and develop them all to be able to handle themselves. Much later in the series they will show Kakashi from when he was very young - it's a very dramatic story that showed why he became the character he is now, and it just served to make me love him even more. As for Naruto, he was described later in the series as having a "spirit that never gives up." That's a good summarization of why I love him. It's what makes him such a great main character - no matter how much the odds are stacked against this little kid, he won't shrink away from the challenge (ever since he made that promise to himself). As for Shikamaru (who first appears around Ch. 35 for those who don't know)... you'll learn why I like him so much as you read more chapters about him, and I wouldn't be surprised if you counted him as a favorite too eventually. He's also involved in a developing romance with a certain female character in the manga, believe it or not, and it's pretty cool. Anyway, can't wait to hear your observations on Chs. 65-66 Sarah.

Okay, finally got a chance to start reading this. Thanks, Phil. Only got through the first story, and works well enough as an intro. Naruto is actually a well thought out character from what I've read so far. His motivations make sense to me, which is more than I usually say for a lot of US characters. Can't say that I'm a huge fan yet, but you're starting to convince me. Let you know once I read the rest.

Venom, sorry to hear you are having computer problems. Hope you get things worked out soon. Since I have only recently started reading Naruto, I'll be interested in knowing what you think of it. I have had a hard time getting use to reading right to left and to the way some of the fight scenes are done. They tend to lose me at times. The more I read though the more I like the series. Shan
