How do you know? Did you do it? ;D I don't doubt Jags could do it. I think he is a pretty fast reader. Shan

Well, that part of the Naruto series IS very compelling to read. As you've found out yourself, Shan.

it's in English, Phil. ;D i wouldn't be able to understand if it's in arabic or tamil or russian. ;D
Shan, if it's in one of the indigenous language, i tell u Naruto will be one hilarious manga. ;D i recalled a singaporean film director made this audio spoof of Star Wars where Darth Vader revealed himself to Luke as the father. it was a direct/literal translation to Hokkien (a chinese dialect). the result was one of the most hilarious thing i have ever heard.

I see, sounds interesting. If you have Chs 135-138, I would love to have scans if they are OK looking, because I really would like to replace my files with better ones for these chapters.

Finished with Chapter 1 (finally!). I'm starting to speed up now so I'll probably be going through a bit more quicker. As well as me reading Dragon Ball and maybe a few other manga's... Anyway, Part 5 of Chapter 1 was really good and I'm just starting Ch. 2 now...

If you're a Dragonball fan, Max, you'll probably like Naruto. Kishimoto was inspired by Dragonball. It's very different, but still similar in some ways. Chapter 1 and 2 are really more or less just introducing us to Naruto. Shantara says it gets better with Chapter 3 and for me it was Chapter 4. Let us know when you start liking it a lot Max, if you do.

Keep reading Max. You haven't gotten to any of the good stuff yet. Like Phil said I thought it got alot better starting with chapter 3, but starting with chapter 9 it really takes off. Read at least through chapter 33 before deciding whether you like it or not. That way you will give yourself a fair chance of judging it for real. Shan

Hooray! And I just sent Steve 20 chapters of Naruto, too... Time to get this discussion going again ... ;D Chapter 269 has been late in coming out this week from Japan. I'm anxious to read it.

Agreed. Let's get discussing again. 20 more chapters to Steve. I think you've got him hooked. ;D What is the hold up with the chapter or is this normal? Shan

Well, it used to come out on Thursdays, but the last few weeks it's been coming out on Fridays. We actually get the chapter about three to four days before it is actually published (usually on Mondays in Japan) so we really shouldn't complain, but we're so used to getting it on Thursdays we get pretty antsy around this time of the week if it's not out yet. Plus, last week it left off on a nasty cliffhanger and you know how nice that is... Cliffhangers Hehe.

Hmm... write more Night Spider or read Naruto. Tough choice you put me in there, Phil. ;D Unless I write Night Spider vs. Naruto. Then they'd talk each other to death. ;D Seriously, I expect to get into a Naruto marathon fairly soonish. Let you guys know once I start catching up some more.

The safest answer? Master Kakashi. Actually, rather a good question. I'd probably be able to give a better answer once I'm farther ahead in Naruto. He's probably a lot more powerful later on. As of where I am (done with Ch. 15), it could go either way. It really comes down to whether NS could identify and take down Naruto's true form before all the dopplegangers wrestle him down. Which he could potentially do; his Sight allows him to see auras. I'm also pretty sure he's got a significant edge in experience, strength, speed, and agility. But it's not a sure thing. Naruto and NS are both difficult to take down, due to healing factors and sheer stubbornness. But... it would be fun. They'd both be trying to outdo each other with pranks and jokes. I have no doubt they'd drive Sakura and Kakashi insane within the hour. ;D

Kakashi can't separate these dopplegangers with his Sharingan eye, because they're not illusionary, but actual flesh-and-blood. They are identical clones. Think 'Multiplicity' (the movie). That's why it's such a formidable skill, in fact it's a jounin (elite ninja)-level skill. It's hard to tell these dopplegangers apart at all. The only way to make these dopplegangers vanish is to do destructive damage to them, or if Naruto calls them off. edit - or if Naruto himself (the real Naruto) is wounded; it interrupts the flow of chakra. Not as easy as it is against a normal 'Kage Bunshin' (Shadow Doppleganger) spell, the kind that are illusions. (Well, in that case you'll know it's not the real person because you'd just pass through it if you attacked it.)

The real problem for NS is that he wouldn't want to kill Naruto. He's sworn never to use a blade to kill, and has a distaste for blood generally. And he'd have to seriously hurt the dopplegangers to stop Naruto.
I'm just not sure how it works on a spiritual level. If they're like a hive mind, there's problems. But if it's more like what Jamie Madrox does, which is put small parts of his personality into them, then NS may be able to tell the original.
Fortunately for NS, he might be able to evade Naruto for a while. And I doubt either will seriously tire.
It's really a hard fight to call, and depends on how it played out.

It'd certainly be an interesting battle. But there are ways to fool Naruto into being too complacent. Kakashi proved it, after all.

True. Also, Naruto can get overconfident. I'd have to give Kakashi a clear win over NS, though. He's like a mystic ninja version of Taskmaster. Go with magic-based powers against Kakashi, he'll stomp you flat...
