Ah, classic! A personal favorite when I was a kid, and nedless to say it's still great. However, this verision is too jumpy. The strings are supposed to smoothly float into eachother, instead you hear every stroke. Anyway, you inspired me to listen to classical music again, for the first time in years. Never was a huge fan, but it's nice nontheless. As for Hymn of Pain it wasn't bad, but I didn't find it anything special either. Übereil

Pachelbel - Canon in D. Okay yes , I missed this classical sort of thing the first time. It's all happy and new morning awakeningey and what not , it's well composed obviously but I have never been able to relate to light classical or major key classical (happy sounding). I prefer more melancholic music I guess. I'll say oddly that music serves some purpose for me but I never was able to catch happiness or anything from it. I don't know why but I always veer toward depressing minor key melodies. I really enjoy Mozart's Fantasy in D minor for example.

Blood Ceremony: Hymn to PanA clear Celtic influence in the music at the start, which seems a little inappropriate for a Greek deity. After that, they sound very like Triumph or early period Rush. Definitely Prog Rock. I like some of the tonal shifts, but the whole doesn't really mesh too well, IMO. It sounds more like three songs jammed together. The singer is no Geddy Lee, either. My attention is taken almost wholly by the music, which is most unusual, for me. It's interesting enough that I'd leave it playing rather than turn it off, but while it's decent enough Prog Rock, it's not GREAT Prog Rock. A bit too much Triumph; nowhere near enough Rush. Next song: Paul Potts & Hayley Westenra Sei Con Me Not an official video, obviously, but the song is the thing, here.

I really like Jex Thoth myself. Could it remind you of Jethro tull..? Yes, that's it. It sounds like Black Sabbath and Jethro Tull mixed, and maybe even Deep Purple with that heavy rock organ. I love the old school doom sound.

Also the singer is the floutist and a female.

Paul Potts & Hayley Westenra Sei Con Me
I have no idea what it means. It's a pretty song and melody. it would definatly have to be a serious mood choice. It's pretty shocking when the male vocal kicks in...abrupt but kinda cool. Since it is sang with so much emotion , I'm curious to know the translation..

Italian. Beats me. Don't listen to either of them for what they sing about.

Paul Potts & Hayley Westenra Sei Con Me Well, let me start with what I like: Paul Potts' talent is substantial, and his voice just has power and tone befitting a demi-god. But this song, the music sounds like a love song from a Disney movie. The duet approach doesn't help. Since I can't understand the lyrics, I just make up my own story for the music. And it's two cartoon characters, separated, singing while the same progression and melody plays over and over, and over again but really big at the end cause you're supposed to get chills. Except they overcast the male role and hired a voice actor way too talented for such bland, sappy music. I'm neutral on the girl. She sounds pretty good, and probably deserves better music as well. Next up (no, not another metal song): Antoine Dufour - Trilogie

Kilgore - I finally thought of what was nagging my memory about that Blood Ceremony song (great album, by the way). At 4:30 in that song, when the Hammond organ kicks in, it sounds exactly like this White Stripes song

I gotta say , I started playing acoustic fingerstyle about 8 years ago , not as much as this guy evidentally. Wow , I wanted to be sick because I was in awe of the melodies and rythyms and harmonics he was wrenching out of that guitar. Damn! i'm bookmarking that.

The important thing is that the thread continues. And for that, we need music. So unless Kilgore wants to post a song, seeing as it's his turn...

I'm with Elliot, sort of. As long as it doesn't get out of hands so we have five different pepole posting a new song at the same time someone posting a new song once in a while, especially if there seems to be no one else posting anything new, is not a problem at all.
