Of course, post a song, continue the thread. But if people stop listening to other's songs and just start posting their own it defeats the whole purpose of the thread... and it becomes just like any other music thread on here where we just spam links and no listens.

I'll try to maintain this thread a little more by reposting the suggestions that were made throughout the discussion of the other songs. For the moment we still have and on the waiting list.

Actually we don't Hildor. Kilgore reviewed Flix's song without offering a new one, which left our unreviewed song count at zero. Hence my own intercession. I wouldn't have added anything if we had a song left unreviewed

Sorry about the omission , I hadn't recognized the order. Family Snapshot- Peter Gabriel. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyTiGKa0_6UNear the end of the song everything gets very quiet, please listen to the words at that point , those quiet words are very important.

Whatever. I was being too strict with the rules I guess. I just thought one needed to review a song before they posted another one, regardless of whether there was a "new" song. The idea being that the feedback is more important and can be unlimited, but cramming the thread with more and more songs before the old ones get any significant attention...well, again, whatever...

No , I agree with you , I didn't know there was an order , or that it was my turn.

That was directed at EK, anyway. I just felt he was cheating by using your review as a springboard for his own song post.
But, I feel stupid arguing this anymore, because it's not that important to the thread's life, I guess.
So, I'll just skip his song since it ain't legit. ;D
Family Snapshot- Peter Gabriel.
Well, this is interesting. Low key, brooding sound for the first half. Some liberal synth use, kind of a turn off for me. The fretless bass sounds good - or is that just a synth bass? Gabriel's voice is kinda husky and rough but with some range. As to the lyrics - Is this about JFK's assassination or something? Sure sounds like it. I like the big buildup and climax at the "let the bullet fly" moment, and then the withering away afterwards. None of the melodies or harmonies really jump out and catch me, though. After several listens I can't really hum any part of the song. I guess this is prog? I know Gabriel was in the prog band Genesis....

I didn't like the beginning of the song. Sounding like it tried to be a slow, gentle and beautiful intro for the song itself, but it didn't catch on. The chorus is something completely different. It was good. I was expecting hardrock since I only know one or two songs from Porcupine Tree. But I got a very easy and relaxing chorus in the place. That's why I didn't mind the hardrock intermission with the guitars and all. After that intermission (that's why I call it) the song gives the same feeling again, only with a richer atmosphere. I tried to listen to the lyrics, but I gave up in the middle of the song and just enjoyed the music. There are only a few songs that I listen to because of the lyrics. All in all, a bad start with a fine middle and ending. I'll listen to this a few times more. As for the next one: La Musica Notturna Delle Strade Di Madrid' No. 6, Op. 30 Composed by Luigi Boccherini. It's the ending music from Master and Commander: the Far side of the World.

a very delightful & light-hearted piece. when i first heard the music in the film, i knew i had to get the soundtrack. i like the duets & chamber-like music, a refreshing contrast from big symphonies. this particular piece is lead by the cello & it gives that warm feel to the music. the mood of the music is playful & fun & it feels like a bunch of friends playing music together, a jamming of sorts. i like the playful duet between the violin & cello where the violin would be strummed while the cello takes the lead then later the violin would take the lead while the cello is strummed. if u can listen to the intro music of the film, the last 3 minutes feature the same piece, only that it's lead by the violin. as opposed to the cello, it makes the music lilting. next up: Yo-yo Ma plays the Prelude from Bach´s Cello Suite No. 1
