Sounds cool I could certainly work that in to the way I play him

Once I get working on it I'll probably be bouncing some ideas off you Eliot.
It may take some time considering some of the things I need to clearify.
The only idea I have now concerns wealth, but I'm not entirely happy with that.
I'll let you know.

Hey Steve I was wondering if one of the reasons why you're having difficulty creating a character is due to the fact that you're not able to create a character that has a good motivation to go on a mission like this. That's part of it, Will, yes. Or at least, a set of motivations that are interesting to me. My general way of working is that I find a workable character concept, and then flesh out motivations from that. Usually more than one, because I get more complex characters that way. Not always the case, but it's the general trend. I'm usually not satisfied until I find a character that I feel resonates with me. I seem to be blocked with your system, and I'm not entirely sure why. It might just be that SF is harder for me, I don't know. I can't seem to find a concept that doesn't seem tired or flat to me, or that I can generate an interesting set of motivations from. I'll start with something, then scrap it because I'm just not satisfied with it. Frustrating, I tell you. The annoying thing is that I can develop characters for other genres just fine. I came up with a possible Blitz character in a few hours the other day, literally with no prompting. Rasidar came pretty fast once I thought about Elliot's magic system. I'm open to suggestions if you have any. I just wish I had something more concrete to offer you.

Well one concept that always interested me in SF and I know my system hasn't addressed is the idea of a doppleganger race.
In this case they would probably be a scout from another dimension looking for any number of things. They take the place of someone and see how their nature conflicts with the life they took over.
Another neat character would be some sort of space cowboy, something along the lines of Firefly orOoutlaw Star you have your own code and stick to it no matter how much it might even conflict with itself. For example "I trust no one, but make sure to love all the ladies!"
Another cool way to go is to utilize the clone in new ways. For example an ancient warrior is brought to life in this future setting and is implanted with these odd skills. Now that person must come to terms with the fact that his life is completely different.
Of course there is always the character that is more of a curiousity. For example a shy cute girl who hardly ever tlaks mostly makes gestures. Her skills are really high in most weapons not because she is specially trained but because she seems to be lucky.
The curiousity character can be approached in many ways. Another example might be a robot who believes they are human and wants desperately to become a "True Robot." Then have fun figuring out what in the world that might mean.
Or you can blend a bit of fantasy into a character. Perhaps a character is possessed by a spirit. The end result is that they take turns using the body. Each personality will have their past "ghosts" and need to figure out how to work with each other.
Hopefully this gives you some ideas.

Some, Will, thanks. One idea I came up with earlier today was the idea of some sort of brutal and ruthless figure who died and was recreated as a modified clone. When he was cloned, the idea was for his creators to test whether antisocial tendencies could be curbed through genetic and behavior modification. He is basically a trial run of the process. I am thinking that the idea worked... sort of. While he isn't an evil monster, they still didn't weed out all of his violent and independent tendencies. He escapes from his creators and takes a new identity. At that point, he runs across the known worlds, having adventures, living by his own rules. Something like a cross between Conan and Mal Reynolds. He would basically be leaving Earth so he can escape society's rules. He has no use for them. He's looking for freedom and opportunity out in the stars, but he's also about the survival of his own. But there's also this part of him that wants to make up for what his predecessor has done... Hmm. I think this could work.

Oooohhh cool.
Yes that sounds great.
You could even get away with a secret identity. The organization I'm putting in charge of selecting volunters are more interested in a person's resolve for leaving with no real desire to return or at least they won't dwell on the fact. The other thing they do is test a person's skills to see if the will compliment a group. Don't worry about this factor since Sarah and I have some NPCs that will fill roles that are needed and no one wants to play.

Ah, okay. I tend to try to tailor a character to fit in a group. But if you've gotten that taken care of, no problem.

The idea at this point is to have people play how they want. It works a little better in play testing to look at the extremes. In this case we are trying to let people play with the character however they want
By doing this we can see if anything is unbalanced since an individual will play much different then a group minded person. I'm not saying group play is not needed only that it probably won't be enphasized so much this time around.

Shan - I understand. Take your time. Will and I will be here to help you when you need it.
Steve - Looks like you got it figured out. Sounds like a very cool character. If you do get an idea for another character, feel free to create it. You are allowed to play more than one character.
Will - thanks so much for stepping in & helping when I couldn't. That's why I made you my co-GM. ^_~

Mostly done, Sarah. I'm still working on my skills and equipment, but I think I'm doing well on the rest.

Very good Steve. Marius looks great! Not sure if you wanted to, but you could make Marius' daughter as a second character, but only if you wanted her to go along with the mission, of course. I just know you often like to play two characters.
Okay Shan, you're next! ^_~

Thanks, Sarah. And yes, I was in fact considering that possibility. Sort of a Kitty to Marius' Wolverine, so to speak.

Okay, Sarah, I'm all done. Julie's sheet is now up. I like to use two characters as foils, in case you're wondering why I do that. I get a lot more characterization out of my guys that way. That, and I like to use one character to cover another's weaknesses. It's served me well since Sentinels. I also realized I made some mistakes with Marius, so I corrected them. I forgot I gave Marius full scores in Fitness, so I adjusted his HP accordingly. Being massively strong and durable is part of the fun of genetic engineering.

Sarah, I don't know if I am going to be able to pull this together or not. If I had some kind of background in role playing, I might be able to come up with some kind of character.
I've got a question and I'm not sure this would work even if I could pull it off.
I think I would like to try playing a robot, but I'm not sure I could pull it off. Is there a possibility that I could create a human who has a robot that tags along with her?

Sarah, another question.
How do you get a robot's serial code?
Aslo except for the skills listed, can a robot choose from the skills list and the robot knowledge list?

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How do these skills look and don't ask what kind of character they would be. I can't come up with a personality for either. That is why I was asking about a human who had a robot. They just don't seem real to me. Even answering your questions on personality hasn't made a difference. I am beginning to think the only way I will be able to give personality to either would be by playing them so I could get a feel for the situation they would be in and the people they would be with.
Here are the skills I have been looking at. Open for suggestions though.
Human (name probably Jen)
Technician - 5 Mind Tech - either 4 or 5 Communications - 4 or 5 Fitness - 3 Stealth - 4 Armor Proficiency - 2 Use Energy - 4 or 5 (depending on points above) Use hand to hand - 2 or 3 (depending on points above)
Mind Tech Powers
Computer Knowledge Mind Technician Machine Disassembler Machine Operation Mind Firewall
Robot - Jen 2
Astrometrics - 5 Fauna/Flora - 5 Machines - 4 Robot Arm Parts - 5 Robot/Cyborg Body Capacity - 5 Robot Weapon Proficiency - 4 Communications - 3 Low Gravity Maneuvers - 4

Throwing in my two cents here, assuming Sarah and Will don't mind. You should be able to play two characters that way, Shan. The tag-along robot could be your second character if you wanted. You could then do two sheets: one for the human and another for the robot. Robot serial code can be anything you make up. That's all I did for Marius when I devised his clone batch number. I just threw together something that sounded technical but still relevant to the character. Knowing the robot's primary function (combat, engineering, domestic, etc.) might help you there. I think you've got all the skills down pretty well, far as I can tell. You'll need the Mind Tech at Rank 5 to have all five of your MT skills, so I'd suggest you go with 5 there. (One Mind Tech power per rank. ) So all that's left is to figure out how you want to arrange your other skills. Whatever is most important to your character, I'd say. Personality is more difficult, yeah, I agree. That's the same problem I had for a while. Though you can get away with less for the robot, since she's just fulfilling her programming. Jen is going to take the most development work, I think. But that depends on what you're trying to achieve with her. Edit: Oh, Shan, one more thing. Jen the human will need a 0/0 rank in Commanding, since every human starts off with that.
