They certainly weren't ;D Mediocre graphics I have never minded in the interests of a good game - but FF7 just made me wince... You have to remember FF7 was originally developed for the PS1 and is considered a 1st gen RPG IIRC, so the graphics were expected to be bad. So the PC version won't look much better since they just rushed out ports back then. Not that the graphics were good per se. But I will say blocky Aeris looked incredibly sexy in that blocky red halter-top. mmm...blocky red halter-top. Oh yeah again there are rumors circulating about a FF7 remake due to the FF7 PS3 tech-demo they showed at E3. If these rumors are true let's hope Mandy Moore reprises her role as Aeris from Kingdom Hearts. The rumors may have been squashed but I demand a remake gosh-darn it!

*Blinks* A FF discussion. And Elliot's playing FF?
*Beams*
Though I wasn't overly fond of FF X and was disappointed in the last part of it (mostly because the cutscenes in the early part rocked so much more ), it was still overall good fun.
I was initally repulsed by FF 7 due to both the art and the story (the death of a character for example) but due to Venom's persuasion I re-played it and surprisingly found it to be pretty captivating there at the end. But my favorite by far is still FF 6, which boasts what I believe to be the most fun character cast in any FF game so far, as well as the best adventure.
Anyway, yeah... I don't want to go off on a FF rant. But anyway, hope you're having fun Elliot. And I never played Blitzball - I both hated it and sucked at it.
Oh, and another hint: forget trying to do the whole lightning dodging thing. It's one of the most frustrating sidequests in RPG history.

Put another vote for the card game for me. I will say one thing FFX would get my vote for second best FF if it weren't for FF9 having an interesting art-style and Square's take on Thanos the death obsessed Kuja. Boy I need to play through the FF games for PS1 again, but that will be after I beat Wind Waker for the 3rd or 4th time.
EDIT: I still need to beat Final Fantasy Tactics also. Had that game for over a year and haven't gotten far enough in it.

Checked the PC games out yesterday, didn't see Tactics for the PC.
Any PC game that's also for the PS, I'd rather play on the PS...

Hey Phil, I saw FF Anthology the other day, the one that has 5 and 6, but they wanted $20 for it, which I don't have right now. That and Will pointed out that I haven't finished Chrono Trigger or FF4 or FF9.
I like FF games, but they tend to lose my interest at a certain point and I never get back into them.
The only games I've ever finished were Working Designs games - both Lunars and some of the Arc the Lad games. I'm itching to get Growlancers, but it's way too expensive.
Anyway, I'm mostly playing Champions of Norrath when I get the chance, not that I've had much time lately. But I do want to get back into Suikoden 4 before I forget what I was doing.

It's well worth the $20, as long as you don't mind the out-dated graphics. Actually FF5 is almost a bonus...

And, heh, played one of the Lunar games, never finished it. That's funny.

Yeah, I suppose it's worth $20, just not right now.
Well the first Lunar is far superior to the second. The second didn't have very much of what I liked about the first one, but I still enjoyed it because I had played the first one.

Far as I know, FF Tactics never came out for the PC, sadly.
Which is a shame. I liked the sweeping epic historical background of Ivalice, and the dirty political reality of that world. FF Tactics also had the best overall system, to me. The Job Class system made the characters pretty much customizable at need. The battles were often long and involved, but fun to play. My only real downside is that characters tended to be forgotten about on a story level the moment they joined your party.
They did release FF Tactics Advance for the GBA, but I didn't much care for it. They should have ported the original game or built on it. Instead, they went for one of those "ordinary Earth person crosses into FF universe" stories. I also didn't much care for the way they did random battles in FFTA. Bleh.

The Mood is about to change (I love old wrestling sayings) Here is what I'm playing now that I got my brother's PS2 and games until he comes back:
FFX Final Fantasy Origins part 1
Thinking about FFx-2 but I'm not sure the game looks pretty pathetic.

FFX-2 IS a bit pathetic, especially story wise, but it has some redeeming qualities. Once your party gets powered up, that game quickly becomes fun. Mind, that's only if you choose to try to do everything in the game, instead of just completing the linear story to the end.
And there are some quite challenging monsters in it, Angra to name one. Took me three straight hours just to beat him (in ONE fight). And the class "costume" switching system is quite fun to use, at times.
Hm, what else? Oh, but I did nearly throw the game out the window when I finished the game with only 99% completion percentage.

I think I'll beat FFX again before I tackle FFX-2. I'm also having alot of retro fun with FF1. I really wish you could dash in the field though.
Mindlessly mashing on the buttons for battle is my kind of game. I just got past Garland and am approaching the repaired bridge.

I like FF8 the most, and FF10 and 10-2 were lackluster.

Just found Omega Island in FFX. Useful for XP, but really, really deadly. Maybe one day I'll move more than three feet from the save point at the Start
