I've just seen the AOL exclusive trailer of this movie and it looks like it's going to be great!!!
Definitely the next "Lord of the Rings" type series, and it's even going to be filmed in New Zealand too.
The Snow Queen looks fantastic, the Lion is perfect, the kids look like how I'd imagined them to be, everything looks great so far. It's going to be one beautiful film from what I've seen so far.
I can't wait for this. I mean, last Christmas we really had NOTHING good to watch, so it's good that we'll have something good coming up next time. It comes out December 9th!
If anybody can find links to screenshots from this movie, please post them here. Especially the Snow Queen with her polar bears.

Snow Queen isn't beautiful enough, and should be wearing white That said - the kids look like perfect casting, and Aslan is darned impressive I think this film will do very well indeed...

Nicole Kidman probably would have made a much better Snow Queen, but oh well.
Cool site. I'm experiencing the anticipation I had for the Lord of the Rings movies all over again.
The only thing that worries me is that Disney is producing these films. Disney was started by a big atheist, so I don't know if they will keep everything true to the Christian themes that was evident in the novels.
I doubt they will do that now though, after seeing how Passion of the Christ did at the box office.

I don't see how the themes are avoidable, Phil. They run through every single aspect of the story.

You're probably right.

I remember watching a short miniseries made of some of the books, the first three if I remember correctly. I enjoyed those quite a lot.
Of course I read the books as a kid so I'm anxious to see this movie.
I just hope they do go past the first book and do movies of all the others. That would be soo cool. I still wish the miniseries would have gone and done more of the books, but oh well.

Voyage Of The Dawn Treader would utterly rule! Anyone not want to see Reepicheep? That mouse is probably the coolest character in the series!

They are. They have plans to do the next two books as well. I'm not surprised that they have the next two books planned, but do they have any plans for the rest, or are they just going to make it a trilogy since those are so popular now? Sorry for the sarcasm and disbelief, but I just wonder whether anyone in Hollywood has the dedication or motivation to do the Complete Chronicles of Narnia movies.

I am very anxious to see what will be done with this movie. My oldest really enjoyed the DVD that her cousin had of "The Lion, Witch and Wardrobe." If it turns out good then I think it will be a good movie to take her to next Christmas. Right now we are reading the book. As Phil said we didn't get much this past Christmas. Hopefully this year will be better. Shan

Tsel, good article. It says what I had always heard about Walt Disney was true. I wonder what he would think of the way his creation has gone in the last few years? Would he be pleased and happy or would there be sadness? Shan

Wait a minute, Disney wasn't an atheist? I guess I was misinformed.
And Sarah, I think they do have plans to do the rest. In fact I think I've heard them boasting about the fact that C.S. Lewis, unlike Tolkein, at least had the foresight to do more than three books.

I don't think Professor Tolkien's decition of making 4 books had anything to do with lack of foresight...
Anyway, I watched the trailer. Visually, it looks pretty good. Still, I find pretty dubious that they would be able to film all 7 or 8 books, unless the series reach Harry Potter/LoTR levels at the B.O.

Beren and Luthien alone would make a fantastic movie any day.

Actually, Tolkien’s LoTR books were only one single book, but the original publisher made him break it down into separate books. Tsel

Tsel... The three books Tolkien wrote are The Hobbit, LoTR and The Silmarillion Even Silmarillion was not entirely completed to Tolkien's satisfaction, but on the Nth draft, IIRC. The rest of Tolkien's books were put together from his extremely extensive notes by Christopher Tolkien, who, I believe, is his son (Though I might be wrong. Might be grandson or something like that...)
