Well I was curious today and I checked out season 4's Doctor Who episodes (Good breaks between studying). I must say I am hooked again. Here is my brief synopsis and review of the first 3 episodes:
1. Partners in Crime- Reintroduces us to Donna Noble, and it was nice seeing how her and the Doctor came together. Donna seems like a bit of an airhead but she has an enthusiasm that so far makes the season exciting. The aliens in this episode were a bit too stupid though but overall decent episode. And thank god Rose didn't have any lines! If I had to hear it I would've had to poke out my eardrums.
2. The Fires of Pompeii- Great episode. It reminds me of the Charles Dickens episode where they retroactively insert the Doctor into history. I did like how Donna wanted to try to evacuate people from Pompeii, and the Doctor had the moral quandry about how to get involved. Also another hint about Rose returning.
3. Planet of the Ood- Best episode of the bunch so far. I really like how they developed the Ood from season 2, and Donna is trying to get the Ood to rebel when it turns out they can't. Also the first hint that this is going to be David Tennant's last season on Doctor Who.
Overall, I like Donna as a companion, she's very proactive and I hope she keeps that headstrongness, and gets the Doctor into more trouble as the season goes on. It's a decent start after I skipped season 3 of Doctor Who. But I hope it isn't like season 2 where it started out good and then got stupid as the season progressed.

4/5 The Sontaran Strategem/ The Poison Sky- The return of Martha to the series is marked by a 50/50 two parter. The first episode is a slow bit of buildup that was rather dull and stupid but the second half was pretty decent. It was nice to see Donna who is normally proactive being scared about having to enter an alien ship and reactivate the teleporter by herself. The Martha and her clone bit towards the end was very melodramatic and took away from the second episode. Also it seems that Martha has been forcefully brought back into the group by a Tardis malfunction. Oh and speaking of malfunctions there was another appearance of Rose this time a blink and you'll miss it one. Next week we get to meet the Doctor's daughter.

Daughter or granddaughter, SPS? It's known the Doctor has a son, IIRC, but a daughter would be new...

definetly daughter. She even calls him dad in the preview.
She looks like the type of character you would like E, tough, blonde and cute ;D.

Just caught up on Series 4, finally. So far, I'm still not terribly impressed by Donna. She seems to have changed personalities entirely since "Runaway Bride", but then I hated Donna in that, so I guess the transplant can only be an improvement. She's gone from being annoying in a "moronic witch" sort of way to being annoying in a "I don't know if I can do this; I want to go home every five minutes" sort of way, though, so it's not much of a step up. "Fires Of Pompeii" was a cool idea, and I liked the moral dilemma the Doctor faces here. It's only a decent episode at best in the execution, but it's generally watchable. "Planet Of The Ood"... solid episode, but hits the viewer a little bit too much over the head with the social commentary. Otherwise, I found it enjoyable; I like the development of the Ood in this episode. "Sontaran Stratagem"/"Poison Sky" was probably the most interesting one so far. I haven't seen anything with the Sontarans in it previously, so this is my introduction to them. Overall, I liked this one, and good to see Martha involved again... I've missed her. That said, I really wish that they'd kept the scientist kid around... he was a self-absorbed jerk, but he had an interesting dynamic with the Doctor. I'd actually like to see him come back somehow. Yeah, and the "Doctor's Daughter" trailer looks really interesting. Looking forward to it.

The Doctor's Daughter- Blech episode. Jenny is a really strong character but the rest of the episode rather sucked. An interesting concept about the seven day war that lasted generations but overall it could've been much stronger.
