Oh yeah. Itachi is still my favorite villain in the series although somebody right now is beginning to surpass him.

man... sometimes I wish I did have time to read manga on my computer because then I'd want to read more Naruto to talk to y'all about it... but I suppose it's best this way, so SJ still has value to it.
But if I had time to read on my computer, I think I'd continue on 666Satan, which I like certain aspects better than Naruto. Then there's Death Note or maybe more Bleach since I can't afford the printed volumes right now.
But it's all a moot point right now. Sorry to ramble, just wanted to vent a bit. Please return to your regularly scheduled spoiler discussion. ^_~

ahahahaha!!! no need to be sorry, silva. always good to see u around these parts of manga. ;D maybe next time we exchange ideas on shouju manga & who knows phil might give ideas on what shade of pink his fav character looks great in. ;D
i have no time as well to go through manga & it was onyl a few weeks back that i managed to read all of Akira's 7 volumes & it was indeed mind-blowing. a heck lot better than the film which leave one question hanging too many.

Thanks janggut. ^_^ I feel better now. I am reading Shojo Beat, though I don't think anyone else here is. Shan - I highly recommend you get a subscription for your girls, if they're old enough. I'd say the manga is aimed at young teens, like 12 and up. It only costs $30 for 12 issues, which isn't bad... (though not great either.... grr... sorry, my love/hate relationship with Viz rears its ugly head again...) Anyway, go to www.shojobeat.com for more info. Anyway, I am currently reading through the Dark Angel series by Kia Asimaya. 5 volumes long and so far, pretty good. I'm enjoying the characters, though I don't like the artwork, but I think that's more due to the reproduction - everything is really dark and it's hard to make out the battle scenes. But then it makes for a fast read - just skim the battles and see who's still standing at the end. ^_~ So there, now I have really hijacked the Naruto thread... for how long, remains to be seen. ^_~

Sarah, if Shojo Beat is aimed at young teens, then it is a little old for the girls. They are only 7 and 5. Maybe in a few years we will take a look at it. Thanks for thinking of them though. Shan

Being able to read Naruto, Bleach and RK on my computer has really been great. It has offered me a way to enjoy some things with you guys that I would not have been able to otherwise. There are just to many other things that the money needs to go to right now besides manga comics. Hopefully some day that will be different, because I have enjoyed the ones I have read and would like to support them. Shan

Sarah has hijacked my Naruto thread... ;_; No, seriously, I'm glad you dropped in Sarah. ^__^ Though I have always wished you could have caught up with me in reading Naruto I understand why you chose instead to keep buying SJ. In a lot of ways, even though I complain a lot about the translators, it is still an overall better reading experience to read it in SJ. In Naruto news, it's kinda funny but I found out the Naruto anime debuts on Toonami on September 10th, my birthday. You can see its official website at www.cartoonnetwork.com/tv_shows/naruto/ which is pretty cool. Who knows Shan, your girls might end up being fans without you knowing it. Unless you don't have cable TV.

Okay Shan - in a few years. But there is quite a bit of shojo manga aimed at younger audiences, but they're all in GN format, not the magazine anthology which is much more affordable.
My sister's kids get both SJ and SB, but they're 10 and 12, so they're of the right age.
Sept. 10 is a very popular day this year - it's also the day I start moving into an apartment.
In case I don't get a chance to say it closer to your birthday - Happy Birthday Phil! Hope you have a great day full of manga! ^_~ Or sports... or whatever you choose to do. : D

I guess you probably won't be able to come to my birthday party. Oh well, and Happy Moving Day to you too! ^__^
Yeah, sports will likely round up my birthday. College football mostly, and the NFL season starts the next day. I usually get some money from relatives a few days before my birthday so I'll probably be able to get my manga earlier.

Cool. Let me know what manga you get. Wish I had some recommendations, but I don't... other than the Vampire Hunter D novels. There's 2 volumes out now. Very very good. Well, the first was, I haven't read the second. It just came out this week.

Well, it's a manga based on some korean mythology. I forgot the name of it, but I'm sure Sarah will drop in any time now and tell us what the name was ... so that I can jot it down and get it on Friday, lol. Hopefully! And yeah, I've always been interested in mythology - mostly greek, but I got interested in Korean culture especially when I was dating a girl from Seoul in college.

Legend of Chun Hyang... you ask now that all my books are packed! Thankfully I remembered Hyang and looked it up on Amazon. But yeah, I'd recommend that or the Vampire Hunter D novels. ....nothing else comes to mind....
... Shirahime-Syo: Snow Goddess Tales, but it's full of tragic short stories.... Maybe not the best recommendation for your brithday, but has beautiful CLAMP artwork.
If you could ever find Rumiko Takahashi's Rumic World Trilogy or Rumic Theatre - those were great collections of her early short works. But I believe they're out of print. I was even lucky enough to find the very rare Rumic Theatre vol 2.
Good luck and again, Happy B-Day!

I love Jiraiya too. Sarah, I had to wait a bit because of gas problems. I did finally get some gas today at $7.05 per gallon, and I do have to go to Knoxville next week for several reasons so I'll look for all these manga you mentioned. But it looks as though I won't as have as much money as I thought... again. *rolls eyes* What else is news. But anyway. Shan, the next storyarc is also long and very, very dramatic. I want to hear your reactions more often on some of the fights. Sarah, have you gotten this month's Shonen Jump yet? Hope you aren't going to miss it after you move out. - Phil

Phil I still aim to post what I think about Tsunade and her story, so there will more this weekend. I also think I have figured out the best way for me to post comments to the thread is piece by piece as I read instead of waiting until I finish a story. There are just to many things that come to mind as I read that I never thing about at the end when I start talking about it. Soooooooooooooo, you will get more posts on the story I am now reading. I should have done that with Tsunade. It was such a great story. Shan

Tsunade Story I like this character too. She was great. Spoiler: Tsunade, there is so much I could say about her and I am not good at saying alot in a few words.
When I first meet her, it is quite obivious that she is running from something and I wonder why Jiraiya thought she would make the a good 5th Hokage. At first she just didn't seem to fit the part.
Then she meets up with Orochi and Kabuto and the real story begins to unfold and you find out that she is grieving the loss of her brother and her boyfriend (maybe feeling guilty because she couldn't save them ) who both had had dreams of becoming Hokage one day. The Orochi throws a deal at her, heal him and her would bring them both back to life, and you can see the debate start within her and you really begin to wonder what her decision will be. ( i kept thinking she just had to turn him down, but there was still just a tiny shred of doubt that kept me wondering )
Naruto's first meeting her was great. I couldn't keep from laughing he was so funny. From his first reaction at finding out Jiraiya was asking her to beome Hokage, to when she speaks bad of the Hokage, to her saying let's take this outside and then his reaction when she takes him out with just one finger. All of it was great and so much fun to read. I loved every bit of that part.
Another favorite part for me was when Orochi asked her why she was willing to give her life trying to save Naruto and she says "Why am I doing this..... Because now..... I am the 5th Hokage of the Hidden Leaf." That scene was just great. Kishimoto led you into that one beautifully. He set it all up perfectly.
Another very funny scene was the last one when they are back in the village and waiting to get something to eat. Naruto starts talking about her being a 50 year old hag, and that a Hokage shouldn't deceive people like that and she says let's take this outside to him again. You think oh no not again, but this time instead of hitting him with her finger she leans over and kisses him on the forehead and tells him to become a good man and a respectable Hokage. She believed in Naruto and wanted to see him fulfill his dream.
The bet with the necklace and Naruto's determination, the fight on the summoned creatures, how powerful Tsunade is, Kabuto fighting in Orochi's place. It was all very well done and added even more questions about Kabuto for me.
I guess one of the big things in this story for me was how Tsunade and Naruto gradually gain respect for each other. In a way I could see Naruto gradually leading Tsunade back from running away.
Very good, very, very good. Shan
