Cedric
There are no brooms in the room. The people still sleeping are covered in amber glow, including their beds. It would appear that the only useful furniture in this room are the pieces your group woke up on.
No-one has yet touched the amber glow with anything, so you don't know if stuff can be taken from within it.

Loriana contemplated what she could do to help. She knew she'd be of no use making armor or weapons. So she sat down on her bed to think and try to remember what she was good at. She could vaguely remember lighting a candle with her thoughts... Maybe she could cast spells. She sat there, lost in thought until Stelrein and Rasidar came over to tear apart her bed.
(Elliot - can my character remember anything about her spells.)

Stelrein nodded to Rasidar, "Another hand would be helpful. And considering the state we woke up in, I don't see him as being a threat," Stelrein nodded his head over at the unnamed lady, "I believe she's an archer. She keeps reaching towards her shoulder. And the calouses on her hands would indicate a bow."
Stelrein thinks to himself - He did not know why he knew to look for those signs, but it seemed a correct assessment to him.
Gesturing towards Cedric, "From the looks of his hands, he has some martial training in a weapon, but I'm not sure which one. He doesn't have the bearing of a soldier. More of a priest or a sage. We might want to figure out the military strengths of our companions before deciding on a way to approach the door."

Loriana
As you try to remember your spells, you get the feeling that something is wrong more than ever. They were so much a part of your life that you SHOULD recall them, yet somehow the memory just slips away...

Frustrated and unnerved that she can't remember what she should know, she got up and walked back to the group. Though she was nervous about talking to these strangers, she knew she had to or else they would remain strangers when they should all become friends.

Stelrein goes through the motions of creating padded armor slowly so that Rasidar can follow.
He starts by ripping the blanket in two roughly equal sections. The first section is used as an inner layer that goes next to the skin. The second section is to be used to hold in the padding. The straw is used as the padding.
A small strip of the blanket is used as a binding to hold the pieces together. A sharp splinter of wood is used for cutting and poking holes for the blanket strip to thread through.
The greatest amount of care is used when putting the straw into the blanket, making sure that vital areas have the greater amount of padding.
Thus Stelrein goes about putting all the pieces together to create one suit of padded armor.
As for the shield, Stelrein breaks the largest piece of board, making a roughly manageable peice of wood. Having still one strip of blanket, he wraps it crosswise around the wooden shield, creating a grip.
The crude club is the easiest, just breaking off a leg of the bed and using the floor to grind down the more splintered sections.

Cedric had been looking around the hall, but found exactly nothing new. The beds were all identical, so were the blankets.
He contemplated one of those still occupied by a person. The amber glow covered everything, even the bed. As far as he could discern through the glowing, the one before him was occupied by a woman. He considered reaching through the glow - but as all beds were identical, there seemed to be no point in it.
He went back to the two manufacturing to see what they were achieving.

Stelrein looked up from his work, seeing the pale man approach, "Cedric, was it? Could you try something for me?" He took a long board from one of the beds and handed it to Cedric, "Could you see if you can get down one of the lights?"

"Good idea," Rasidar said. "I suggest standing upon one of the beds to better reach the ceiling."
Rasidar attempted to follow Stelrein's example in crafting armor and shields. He would attempt it until he had mastered the process to his satisfaction. Once this was completed, he would help Stelrein until the party was fully armed and armored.
Once the group was properly equipped, Rasidar would go and see to the group. It would help for the group to know each other well enough to plan...

Somewhere in the middle of this...
Rasidar turned to the party. The ice would need to be broken if they were to work together as a group. They must first trust each other.
"Before we continue, we should see where we stand. It would be useful to know what we can all do, so we can plan before we venture outside. We will need some kind of battle strategy in case we encounter enemies in the field. This may also help with the distribution of weapons."
"I'll volunteer first. I specialize in the sword, but I am competent with polearms and with the bow. I spent most of my life training for my place in the knighthood. Though I have not long been a Knight, I believe we can prevail."
He waited for any others to volunteer information. The more he knew about this group's capabilities, the better their chances were...

"Hmm," Cedric shook his head in doubt while looking at the long wood bar Stelrein was handing him and picked up a smaller piece laying on the floor. "I'll try something else first."
Turning to Rasidar he said, "I am a mage, though not at the moment, as I seem to have forgotten everything I knew, which was a lot, I'm sure. I don't even remember which schools of magic I studied - though it certainly wasn't anything that sheds a lot of light." He didn't expand on the latter comment. "As to weapons..." he looks at what the two had made so far, and weighed the smaller wood piece in his hand tentatively. It's the foot of a bed. "I think I prefer something longer, heavier - staffs! I could handle this, I believe - but a sword? I doubt it, doesn't sound right."
He stepped onto one of the last unmounted beds and hurled the wood towards the ceiling.

Yairn's eyes flickered open and instantly he felt his head in pain. He wondered where he was... He remembered very little about what happened before he awoke. They were all just blurred images that made no sense.
Despite the protest of his head he sat up and observed this unfamiliar room. It seemed he had woken later than many. He rubbed his head as he tried to remember the past. Nothing.
He got up from the bed and looked around again. The people in this room did not look like a threat and the only apparent action was to make himself known. They were weaponless and seemed to be in the same predicament Yairn found himself in. What harm could they be?
Collecting his thoughts, Yairn moved over to Rasidar. "Greetings." he said "I am Yairn. Are you in the same situation I find myself in?"
This was all very strange but help was one thing Yairn needed...

Ash looks at Rasidar as he speaks to her.
"Hi," she says as he introduces himself and the others. "My name is Ash and I'm ......." She let's it trail off as she can't remember much else about herself.
She then looks back at Rasidar and says questioningly, "Knight? You're a Knight does that mean I have to curtsey when speaking to you?"
While waiting for Rasidar to answer, she quickly takes another look at the people she had just been introduced to.
They seemed to be friendly enough and she could sure use some friends right now, not that people always made the best of friends but these looked OK. Well, all except one whom she thought Rasidar had called Cedric. He seemed to be staring at her rather strangely almost as if she was naked naked. Glancing down just to make sure, she think, "That couldn't be it though. I've still got my underwear on so there must be some other reason he is looking at me that way."
She then looks at Stelrein, who has gone back to what he was doing. He was making something that looked like crude weapons and armor.
Weapon...... that sounded familiar. Bow, yes bow, she had had one in her hands the last she remembered, but what had happened to it? Where was it now?
As she looks back at the bed she had just left wondering if it could be there, she realizes that Rasidar is speaking to her.
"Sorry," she says as she turns her attention back to him. "What did you say?"

"I am a master of the sword, and can use bows and axes in their basic functions," flashes of battles run quickly through Stelrein's mind, "I believe I was a soldier," he looks more closely at how well Cedric handles the crude club, "Unless I miss my guess, I would say you're more than proficient with that crude club. Can you train someone in the basics of wielding that?"

Loriana spoke softly, intimidated by so many people around her, "I, uh, can use a bow and dagger, but I'm supposed to be a mage. I could cast spells, but something is very wrong. Something is preventing me from even remembering instances when I cast spells, let alone how to cast spells..." she withdrew into herself, realizing how useless she was in this situation. Her emotions were easy to read on her face and in body movements.

Rasidar took note as the latest newcomer approached him. He smiled inwardly. Their ranks were steadily growing. He took comfort that the Great Mana was smiling on their work this day.
"Aye," Rasidar said. "As are we all. If you seek escape and answers to this riddle, you are welcome to stand amongst us."
*
The lady had addressed Rasidar again. He turned to her, paying close attention as was his duty.
"`Tis a pleasure to meet you, Ash," Rasidar said. "You have my service, as far as I might help."
He noted that she seemed confused as she spoke. Trying to recall her past, perhaps?
"There is a mental fog that afflicts us all," he said. "I remember little myself. But I am certain we can restore our minds once we solve this mystery."
"Nay, good lady," Rasidar said. "We needn't stand on formality unless you wish it. In the field, it may even be dangerous. `Tis my duty to serve others, not to stand above them."
Lost in thought again? Rasidar smiled and remained calm as he always did. He knew that it would take time for everyone to find themselves.
"Can you tell us what you remember about yourself?" he asked. "At least, what you can do. It may help our chances of survival."

I wasn't sure quite what you are trying to do. If the aim is to hit one of the light globes, you can do that without much trouble. The wood will bounce with a faint 'tink' sound. The globes are about 3 inches across, so fairly easy to hit.
If you are checking to see if the ceiling is an illusion, it is not.

The wood Cedric hurled to the ceiling bounces off one of the globes with a faint sound and falls back on the stone floor.
"At least it's not an illusion," he says to Stelrein, "I wonder whether something heavier would break some glass. But it must be harder than the wood from those beds, I fear - we can only try."
"On your other question, Stelrein," he continues after a moment of pondering, "Yes, I believe I can train someone to use blunt weapons."

Ash playfully gives Rasidar a very awkward curtsey as she says "Why, thank you, kind sir."
She then looks at him and grins mischieviously.
Wrinkling her nose and trying hard to think, Ash finally says "The word bow keeps coming to my mind. It is as if I had one." She looks around at the bed she had gotten up from again half expecting to find one lying next to it.
A memory flashes through her head....
"Bow, that's it. I'm an archer," she says. "And a pretty good one too if I do say so myself," she adds with a sly smile. "Have any of you seen it? It has got to be around her somewhere. I never go anywhere without it."
******
Ash looks around at the guy called Cedric and asks "Are you really as good with a staff as you claim to be? If you are, can you teach me a few tricks? Bashing stuff with one of those things always looked like fun."
********
She then looks around at the others and asks "While this big guy here is trying to decide whether he's as good as he claims, is anybody interested in going with me to check out the door Loriana found? It might be trapped. It could be helpful to know that before we try to get out it."
