Okay, as some of you might know, I'm really really behind on my comics reading. I've gotten so bad lately that I got piles of comics from the last few months that I still need to read. Not to mention hundreds of other comics I bought on ebay that I haven't read yet.
So I've decided to start this thread to motivate me to get caught up. I'm going to post what I plan to read for the week every Monday and at the end of the week I'll post what I actually read.
I'm gonna start off with newer comics that I need to get out of the way and then I eventually want to start tearing into series like Morrison's Doom Patrol, Promethea, Miracleman, Starman, Shade the Changing Man, and so on.
If anyone else is behind and wants to post what they need to get caught up on, please do so. -SHARK DIGGLER

I am entirely up to date on my reading. Comes of having a pull list somewhat smaller than an entire rain forest ;D

Herr Mike (of HR fame) let me borrow a rather voluminous stack of comics the other day, which I'm still reading.
I finished Identity Crisis, which I thought was good by nowhere near the "blockbuster event of the year" as it was made out to be.
Young Avengers also turned out to be better than I anticipated.
As for motivation to read comics, I quite frankly need none. I love reading comics and can go there a vast quantity in a short amount of time.

I'm pretty much up to speed in my reading. I finally read From Hell and Captain Britain so I only have the Silver Age DC event from a few years ago and Hitman 1-20 to catch up to.
Tomorrow might be another story though, I'll go get what I have in my pull list: 4 issues of 100 Bullets and 3 of Seven Soldiers (I like those a lot, so I wait for a few to read in one sitting) some Lucifer (meh..) and the rest of April comics.

The reason I need motivation is because I don't have that much free time anymore. I usually work anywhere between 35-45 hours a week, I hit the bars about 3 nights a week , I go to the gym 3-4 times a week, and I love to sleep when I can. Plus there's a new girl that's been taking up a bit of my time. Another reason I want to start cutting into the pile is because I'm taking a trip to Vancouver in 2 weeks, so I need to get motivated before I get to the point where I can never get caught up. Am I the only one that has this problem of being behind? Nah, I bet Silva's behind too. -SHARK DIGGLER

Well, tommorow I'm going down to the comic shop where I plan on buying my usual stash of titles and I'm gonna start some new ones. Has anyone got any suggestions one what new series I should start? I also plan, if I have enough of my already limited money, to get the trade of Daredevil (Vol.2) Trade 2 and catch up on the issues before I start that series. Oh and by the way, I know that certain comics are free tommorow (it being free comic book day) but I heard that back issues are cheaper, is that true? And is anything else on a discount?

Max...
The rules are a bit different for us Brits, so I can't say for sure. It tends to vary from comic shop to comic shop over here.

Am I the only one that has this problem of being behind? Nah, I bet Silva's behind too. -SHARK DIGGLER You know me so well. But the main reason I'm behind is that I can't find some issues. I don't like reading ahead and skipping an issue, especially on miniseries. I vented about this in my Back Issue Hunting Thread. But what I can read is a bunch of manga that I have, but haven't felt like reading. I have Rurouni Kenshin 12, 12 and 14 A few volumes of Comic Party from both publishers Some Antarctic Press manga that I got for free And I should have more in my saver today. Hmm... okay, my goal for this week is to read Rurouni Kenshin 12. It's a great story about a ronin in the Meiji era. It's a romantic comedy as well as being an adventure and somewhat historical story.

I'm pretty much always caught up with everything I want to read. If I buy something, it's usually when I want to read something. That doesn't count my SJ magazines, which I subscribe to, but I read that last weekend.

Well I did read Bastard 6 and 7 last night becuase I bought them yesterday and it is my favorite manga. ;D I'm taking RK 12 with me to the doctor's today since I'll probably be waiting around for a while.

The reason I need motivation is because I don't have that much free time anymore. Well, that and the fact that you buy a shitload of comics every month, you lucky bastard. I'm looking forward to your comments on Starman, prolly my favorite superhero series ever, though since I'm still waiting for your toughts on DP, that shall be around, say, 2034?

I should have taken volume 13 of RK. I finished 12 while waiting and probably could have gotten through half of 13 before they even called me in.

I finished reading about 35 pages of an art history article at the hospital once while waiting for the doctor to see my dad and then for him to get out. They do tend to take their time, don't they?
So how did you like RK 12? Sano had some good moments in that as I remember (though I don't know how exactly a wall of water can stop bullets, but I guess they must). Sano has a good fight in 13 as well.

Yeah, that's weird.
I read everything I get in at most a day. It's quite hardcore. The most crazy I went was taking out about 20 gns from the library and attempting to read them all; think I stopped at about the 14th at 4 am.
You need to get into those Doom Patrols, sharky son. I'm missing like 3 issues of the lot, right at the end; gonna check out a place tomorrow might have 'em.

Yeah, as soon as I get caught up on the current stuff I have sitting around I'm going to finish up Doom Patrol. I was doing pretty good on it when I started, then I got busy and left off at about issue 31 or so. It was a little after The Painting That Ate Paris.
14 GN's in one day? Wow, I don't think I'll ever be able to do that. -SHARK DIGGLER

Well I finally got the two most recent 2000 AD issues, but that means I've got a 5 issue hole. So it'll still be a while till I get back to reading 2000 AD, but when I do - boy am I gonna sit down for a day and read! ;D I'm gonna go now and read Rurouni Kenshin 13 and 14. It's gonna be reading night. My back hurts too much to stay sitting at the computer. If I get those done and I'm not too sleepy, I'll read Neotpoia vol 3. Not that many of you know what the heck I'm talking about, but hopefully posting it here will help motivate me to read it. ;D RK 12 was cool. Water pressure can stop just about anything, even bullets. I believed it. Vol 12 was more about Kenshin than Sano, but boy did he have his moments! I think Kaoru is a dunce. She finally gets to see Kenshin again and she doesn't even hug him! In fact, she hides from him. What an idiot! If it had been me, I'd have given him a big hug, a kiss... maybe a good night... kiss.

I did however read the following that weren't on my list: Deadworld #1 Intimates #7 Sea of Red #2 Swamp Thing #15So I ended up reading 24 comics last week. One short of my goal. Overall I'm pretty happy with my results for the week, I think this thread is really going to help me out on getting caught up. -SHARK DIGGLER
